BYD has introduced the new Sealion 7 electric SUV in India with a base price of Rs 48.9 lakh (Premium variant) and Rs 54.9 lakh (Performance variant, prices are ex-showroom). Sealion 7 made its maiden appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, generating huge interest there. Within a month, more than 1,000 orders were booked for BYD, and the initial 70 units will be handed over from March 7.
Variants
The Sealion 7 is available in two trims: Premium and Performance. Both trims share the same 82.56 kWh battery, but they differ in performance:
- Premium Model: Retains a powerful engine that can churn out about 309 bhp with a torque performance of 380 Nm. The speed from 0-100 km/h is attained at 6.7 seconds and, at the same time, it ranges up to 567 km at a full charge.
- Performance Variant: This version comprises a twin motor and an all-wheel driving system that can give an output value of 523 bhp and 690 Nm of torque. Acceleration time is from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds with a 542 km range on a full charge.

Exterior Design
Leaving aside a modern perspective, the design of the Sealion 7 has crossover and SUV looks. The exterior design was based on that of the BYD Seal sedan, having a slanting roof and sporty looks. Strongly X-themed styling elements appear in the bumper, headlights, and rear lamps at the front. Premium gets you 19-inch alloy wheels, while Performance gets 20-inch wheels. The SUV is made available in at least 4 existing colors namely, Atlantis Grey, Aurora White, Cosmos Black, and Shark Grey.
Interior Comfort and Features
The Sealion 7 interiors are endowed with very ample and plush cabin structures using high-grade material. The major display on the dashboard is a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen that is the interface for most of the systems of the car. The display can be turned horizontally or vertically for better use. In fact, the seats are finished with Nappa leather and include front heating and ventilation, as well as 128 different ambient lighting colors. Additionally, it comes with an electric sunshade for managing sun glare, all of which is meant to go along with that great big panoramic glass roof.

Each version of the Sealion 7 incorporates the same battery of 82.56 kWh, but varies in performance as follows:
- With the 482 km WLTP range, the Premium Variant has 309 bhp of power, with 380 Nm of torque, thus able to sprint from 0 to 100 kph in 6.7 seconds.
- The Performance Variant, on the other hand, has 530 bhp of power and 690 Nm of torque, thus capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kph in 4.5 seconds while having a slightly lesser WLTP range of 456 km.
Competitors
The Sealion 7 is making huge steps in the Indian market, competing with electric vehicles like the Volvo C40 Recharge, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5. With good features and performance, the Sealion 7 faces serious challenges from an overwhelming electric vehicle market.
