5 Upcoming ICE Cars Spied Testing In India – Hyundai To Tata

The upcoming Tata Sierra was recently spotted testing in India for the first time; launch in the second half of 2025

Banking on the popularity of SUVs in India, car manufacturers are working to expand their portfolio by introducing multiple new models. In addition to this, new MPVs are also on the cards. The test mules of these upcoming ICE cars have already been spotted testing in the country, confirming their imminent launch. In the article, we will look at the upcoming ICE cars spied testing in India.

1. Tata Sierra

Tata Motors officially unveiled the Sierra in its near-production guise at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Scheduled to go on sale later this year, the SUV’s road testing has commenced and the test prototype was recently spotted in a fully camouflaged avatar.

While the overall silhouette was quite familiar to the version showcased at the Auto Expo, the test prototype was riding on steel wheels. Under the hood, the Sierra ICE will likely be powered by the new 1.5-litre tGDi petrol and 2.0-litre turbo diesel engines.

2. Kia Carens Facelift

Kia is ready to launch the Carens Facelift in the Indian market around mid-2025. While the updated model has already been spotted testing a few times on domestic soil, the latest spy shots have revealed more details. The updated MPV will feature a new set of headlamps, connected LED DRLs and a revised front bumper.

A new design for the alloy wheels will also be a part of the package. In terms of features, the panoramic sunroof is confirmed via spy shots and it will also get Level 2 ADAS. Under the hood, the familiar set of 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CDRi diesel engines will continue as it.

3. New Grand Vitara-based 7-Seater SUV

Maruti Suzuki is currently testing its upcoming Grand Vitara-based 7-seater SUV and a fully camouflaged test prototype was recently spotted, revealing some new details. Internally codenamed Y17, the three-row SUV will feature a completely new front fascia with revised headlamps, bumper and grille.

New alloy wheels and updated connected LED tail lamps will also be a part of the package. These design changes could trickle down the current 5-seater Grand Vitara as a part of its mid-cycle update. The upcoming 7-seater SUV will continue with the current set of powertrain combinations including the strong hybrid and 1.5 litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engines.

4. New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The upcoming next-gen Venue was recently spotted testing in India for the first time. Expected to go on sale later this year, the second generation of the compact SUV will get comprehensive updates inside out.

Internally codenamed QU2i, where the ‘i’ stands for India, the spy shots confirm that an all-new design similar to the current crop of Hyundai SUVs including the latest Creta and Alcazar, updated interior layout and enhanced feature set will be a part of the package. The current set of powertrain options will likely be carried forward into the next-gen Venue.

5. New-Gen Kia Seltos

The next-gen model of the Kia Seltos is on its way and the test mule was recently spotted testing on foreign soil. Expected to hit the Indian shores in early 2026, the second-generation Seltos will feature significant exterior design changes along with completely new interiors.

The spy shots highlight an overall boxy design language with a hint of modernity. Inside the cabin, we could expect the new Seltos to get a triple-screen layout, something we have seen on the Syros. While the technical details are unknown, the next-gen Seltos will continue with the familiar powertrain combinations, however, a new petrol hybrid option could also be introduced in India.
