As the first sign of the zodiac, it represents the active core of our spiritual journey on earth, and teaches us to act in accordance with our ideals. The Aries archetype teaches us to be unafraid to march to our own drumbeat, to assert our willpower towards the attainment of our desires, and to embrace beginner’s mind and the innate trust and explosive power {conviction + action} that is needed to start something new.

While the Wands are concerned with creativity and action, we need clarity of mind, a singularity of purpose, to take decisive action and bring about a change.

The 2 of Wands and The Emperor both hold the world in their hand. But where the 2 of Wands is hesitant, The Emperor is confident. He knows he wields the power, he has the clarity of intent, and the determination to take the next right step.

What distinguishes the two, I think, is clarity, confidence, and personal power.

The Emperor doesn’t sit around waiting for assurances about the outcome of his choices. He knows what is within his power, and he knows that some things must be left to chance, or fate. He knows that empires rise and fall; that emperors come and go; but despite those worries, The Emperor knows that they have to make the choices that are best for their kingdom; for the people; even if those choices prove unpopular in the short term. The Emperor knows that the unknown isn’t the threat, inaction is.

It is this knowledge that ignites the flame of action. This willingness to make a choice, to commit to a path, to take the next best step, and to be open to changing and adapting as the situation demands that helps us to finally act.

Associated with Neptune, Pluto, and Mercury, all three of which are active during this new moon, Amanita has been used in folk medicine since at least 6000 BC, making it one of the earliest hallucinogenic plants in use for religious and shamanic purposes.

Although it is considered a deadly poison, the tradition of consuming this mushroom for enjoyment and as an aphrodisiac still continues. It was also used medicinally, to treat snake bites, joint ailments, and psychological fatigue.

Amanita indicates that your channel is open, and your gift of insight and ability to see through the veil is now present. Amanita also reminds you to embody the medicine of children — to play, sing, make art, and spread some joy in the world, especially in these times when things seem dismal and grim, we need to increase our capacity to experience playfulness.
