Kia is ready to launch the new Carens in the Indian market soon; Carens EV is also on the cards as plenty of new models are on the horizon
Car manufacturers in India are preparing to launch a slew of new models in the coming months. It will be an exciting time for new car buyers as multiple new models in the MPV, SUV, hatchback and EV segment are in the pipeline. In this article, we will give you a brief overview of the upcoming new cars in the next 2 months.
1. New Maruti Suzuki 5-Seater Creta Rival SUV
As reported exclusively by us earlier, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch a new 5-seater mid-size SUV in the Indian market. Expected to go on sale in the coming months, the Creta rivalling SUV will be sold via the brand Arena dealership chain. While the details about the upcoming mid-size SUV are scarce at the moment, it will likely share the underpinning and powertrain with the Grand Vitara. Going by the spy shots, the mid-size SUV will sport a new front fascia, a fresh set of alloy wheels and a new rear design while the side profile seems to be matching the Grand Vitara.
2. New Kia Carens
Kia is ready to launch the new Carens soon. The test mule of the new Carens has already been spotted testing a few times on domestic soil. The heavily updated model will feature an overhauled front fascia with a new set of headlamps, connected LED DRLs and a revised front bumper. In terms of features, the 360-degree parking camera is confirmed via spy shots and it could also get Level 2 ADAS. Under the hood, the familiar set of 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CDRi diesel engines will continue.

3. Kia Carens EV
Soon after the launch of the new Carens, the Carens EV will likely follow in the coming months. Scheduled for a launch around mid-2025, the Carens EV has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The Carens EV will share its design with the upcoming ICE Carens, albeit with some EV-specific design changes on board.

In terms of features, a 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS are expected to be the new additions. While the powertrain details are not known yet, the Carens EV is expected to share the battery pack and electric motor with the Hyundai Creta Electric, claiming a range of over 400 kilometres on a single charge.
4. Volkswagen Golf GTI
Expected to launch in the second half of 2025, the Volkswagen Golf GTI will be sold in India via the CBU route. The first batch of the performance hatchback will be limited to just 250 units. The Golf GTI will be powered by the EA888 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine tuned to produce 265 bhp and 370 Nm of peak torque, paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, channelling power to the front wheels.

With a claimed 0-100 kmph sprint timing of 5.9 seconds, the top speed of the Golf GTI is electronically limited to 250 kmph. The performance hatchback is expected to be priced in India at Rs. 52 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. MG M9
Expected to launch soon, the MG M9 was officially unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo in January. The pre-bookings of the electric MPV have already commenced. In India-spec version of the all-electric M9 premium MPV will come with a 90kWh battery pack. The power output figures stand at 245 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque with a claimed WLTP of 430 kilometres on a single charge. Once launched, the MG M9 will rival the likes of the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire in the Indian market.
6. Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors has already taken the wraps off the much-awaited Harrier EV and it is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Based on the brand’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture, the electric SUV uses a heavily modified electric-specific version of the current OMEGA-Arc platform. While the powertrain details are under wraps, the company says that the electric Harrier will have 500 Nm of peak torque. In addition to this, a dual-motor AWD setup will also be a part of the package. Once launched, the Harrier EV will rival the likes of Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Hyundai Creta Electric amongst others.
7. Tata Altroz Facelift
Tata Motors is working on the mid-cycle update of the Altroz premium hatchback. Expected to go on sale in the coming months, the test mule of the Altroz facelift has already been spotted testing, giving away a few details. The updated model will feature minor tweaks to the exterior design including new bumpers, updated headlamps and tail lamps along with a new set of alloy wheels. Under the hood, the familiar 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbo diesel and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engines will continue to power the Altroz along with the CNG fuel option.
