Rains Lash Parts of ASR, Hot in Coastal AP, Seema



Visakhapatnam: Rains accompanied by hailstorms lashed parts of Alluri Sitharama Raju district during the last two days, damaging the standing horticulture crops. Araku Valley received 9.8 mm rainfall while Kunavaram had a trace. The IMD-Amaravati forecast that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely to continue at isolated places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema for the next three days till April 30. Gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph likely at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the period.

Hot weather and high humidity levels made life difficult for residents of coastal Andhra Pradesh as well as Rayalaseema districts in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday. Kadapa in the state recorded the highest temperature in the state on Sunday at under 42.4 degree Celsius, followed by 40 degree Celsius each in Nandyal and Tirupati, 39.9 degree Celsius at Anantapur and 39.3 degree Celsius at Kurnool. Vizag city recorded 37 degree Celsius on Sunday. The IMD forecast that hot and humid weather will continue in parts of the state along with the thunderstorms.
