Kodikkunnil Suresh writes to Union Finance Minister on PRS crisis

Kodikkunnil Suresh, MP, has written to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman seeking her immediate intervention in the crisis arising from the withdrawal of Canara Bank from the Paddy Receipt Sheet (PRS) scheme in the State.

In the letter, Mr. Suresh pointed out that Canara Bank’s unilateral decision had disrupted the disbursal of paddy procurement price to farmers. The Mavelikara MP called upon the Union Minister to ensure the continued participation of Canara Bank in the scheme.

Mr. Suresh also urged the convening of a stakeholder meeting, including the representatives of State government, Reserve Bank of India and banking institutions to address the issue.
