Upcoming Tata & Mahindra SUVs You Must Wait For In 2025


India’s two major car manufacturers, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra have a major focus on electric vehicle (EV) market, with commitments to introduce 10 new EVs and 7 new BEVs by 2030, respectively. In fact, the year 2025 will also be action-packed for both carmakers as several new ICE and electric models are ready to hit roads. Here’s a brief overview of the upcoming Tata and Mahindra SUVs:

Tata Altroz Facelift

The updated Tata Altroz will be officially revealed on 9th May, followed by its price announcement on 22nd May, 2025. Ahead of its market launch, the carmaker has released teasers revealing interesting design and interior details. The latest teaser confirms the presence of a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new two-spoke steering (borrowed from the Nexon), a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and newly-designed central air con vents. The hatchback will also feature 6 airbags as standard along with a 360 degree camera. No mechanical changes will be made to the 2025 Tata Altroz facelift.

Tata Harrier EV

The electric iteration of the Tata Harrier SUV is slated to arrive in the next couple of months. However, its official launch date and details are yet to be announced. The Tata Harrier EV is built on the brand’s Gen 2 Acti.ev platform and come with AWD (all-wheel drive) system. While Tata hasn’t yet revealed its full specifications yet, it has confirmed that the EV will deliver a maximum torque of 500Nm. This electric SUV will support both V2L (vehicle-to-load) and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging functionalities.

Tata Punch Facelift

Tata will also update the Punch micro SUV this year. However, only minimal changes will be made to both the exterior and interior. The 2025 Tata Punch facelift is expected to come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a revised centre console and rear AC vents. The SUV model lineup might also receive new variants and colour options. Under the hood, the updated Punch will feature the same 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine, producing a maximum power of 86bhp and 113Nm of torque. The existing transmissions will also be carried forward.

Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra is one of the highly-anticipated upcoming Tata SUVs in 2025. The production-ready version of the SUV will look slightly different from concept, featuring new alloy wheels, a distinct kink in the B-pillar, a signature grille with the ‘Sierra’ lettering, bumper with integrated large central air intake, split headlamp with LED light bar headlining the nose and a faux bull bar-like effect. Tata is yet to reveal powertrain details of the Sierra but it’s likely to come with the 1.5L turbo petrol and diesel engine options. The SUV will also be available with an electric powertrain.

Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the electric version of the XUV 3XO subcompact SUV in the coming months. The model is expected to feature a 35kWh battery pack. As of now, there is no information on its electric motor, power and torque figures and range. Spy images suggest that the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV will receive a new EV-specific design changes. It’s likely to come with a redesigned grille, revised front and rear bumpers, newly-designed alloy wheels and ‘EV’ badging. The interior layout and features will be identical to its ICE counterpart. However, the instrument cluster might get EV-specific graphics.

Mahindra XEV 7e

The Mahindra XEV 7e will be the third born-electric SUV from the indigenous automaker, following the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Leaked images reveal that the electric SUV will share several design elements with the XEV 9e such as a closed-off grille, headlamps, bumpers and aero-optimized alloy wheels. The interior will also share a resemblance with the XEV 9e. The upcoming Mahindra XEV 7e is likely to come with a triple screen setup, two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo and several advanced features. The SUV might also borrow its powertrains from the XEV 9e.
