Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to visit India, according to a report by Reuters quoting the Kremlin. Both leaders said that the strong ties between India and Russia will continue to grow and are not affected by outside pressure.
Earlier, Putin called PM Modi and spoke bout the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. He expressed full support to India in its fight against terrorism. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on X that Russian President Vladimir Putin called Prime Minister Modi and strongly condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. He expressed sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and assured full support to India in its fight against terrorism. Putin also said that those behind the attack, along with their supporters, must be brought to justice.
Both leaders said they are committed to making the strong India-Russia World partnership even stronger in the coming years. During the phone call, PM Modi warmly congratulated President Putin on the 80th anniversary of Russia’s Victory Day, honouring its historic victory in World War II. He also invited Putin to visit India later this year for the annual India-Russia summit, aiming to further boost ties between the two countries.
Earlier, PM Modi was expected to visit Russia for the Victory Day celebrations on May 9, but the visit was cancelled following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam. Now, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to attend the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on behalf of India. His visit is seen as a strong gesture of solidarity with Russia and a move to further reinforce the long-standing defence and strategic partnership between the two nations.
