India has once again accused Pakistan of protecting terrorists on its soil. On Wednesday, India named global terrorist Sajid Mir and said he is a clear example of how Pakistan supports terrorism. This happened after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in response to the recent deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
During a press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Sajid Mir, who was involved in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was falsely declared dead by Pakistan. Misri said, “Sajid Mir was declared dead, and after international pressure was built on Pakistan, he was brought back to life again and arrested in Pakistan. This is the most glaring example of Pakistan’s support and nurturing of terror elements on its soil.”
Sajid Mir is believed to have helped plan and guide the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai, including the deadly siege of Chabad House where six hostages were killed. In 2022, India shared an audio clip with the United Nations where Mir was allegedly heard giving instructions to the attackers.

India launched a strong military response through Operation Sindoor after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people were killed. Misri said that the terrorists who carried out the Pahalgam attack were from the Lashkar-e-Taiba group and had been trained in Pakistan.
He added, “It was the largest number of civilian casualties in a terrorist attack in India since the November 26, 2008, Mumbai terror attacks.”
Talking about the airstrikes, Misri said, “The Indian military carried out a measured, non-escalatory, proportionate, and responsible strike to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan to deter and to preempt any further terrorist strikes.”
According to reports, nine terror camps were destroyed, and around 70 terrorists were killed. The strikes took place between 1:05 AM and 1:30 AM on May 7 in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Sajid Mir is also accused of planning a terror attack in Denmark in 2008–09. He uses many fake names, including Ibrahim Shah, Wasi, Khalid, and Moosa Bhai. The United States has announced a reward of $5 million for any information that helps in catching him.
