Pakistan On Boil As Serial Blasts Shake Karachi, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, 6 Other Cities; Army Claims Drone Attack | World News

Pakistan Blasts: The Pakistani Army has claimed that loud explosions were reported across nine cities after 12 Heron drones allegedly targeted them. Pakistan’s DG ISPR, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif, stated that the targeted locations include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Bahawalpur, Mianwali, Chhor, and Karachi. The army also claimed to have neutralized the drones, with nine explosions reported so far. Notably, Pakistan’s Air Defence units of HQ-9 air defence missile launchers have suffered heavy damage due to the attack.

Earlier, a blast was reported in the Sharafi Goth area of Karachi, confirmed by SSP Malir, according to Samaa TV. Reports indicate a series of explosions in Karachi, and police teams are currently present at the scene.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif made sweeping allegations, claiming that 12 Heron drones targeted nine locations and accused India of carrying out the attack. Defence experts told Zee News that this appears to be a “false flag” operation by the Pakistani Army aimed at promoting an anti-India narrative. They added that this is part of an information warfare campaign and propaganda effort by the Pakistani military to justify potential retaliation against India. Notably, Heron drones are surveillance platforms, not attack drones, contrary to Pakistan’s claims.

According to reports, the blasts were carried out using attack drones. Residents have been advised to remain indoors, and security forces have cordoned off the affected areas. Police recovered metal fragments from the scene, and the nature of the explosions remains under investigation. Rescue and law enforcement teams are on-site conducting a detailed assessment. This follows multiple explosions reported earlier in the vicinity of Lahore’s Walton Airport.

Pakistan has closed its airspace, severely disrupting flight operations and leaving passengers stranded at various airports.

These developments come just a day after India’s ‘Operation Sindoor,’ which targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The Indian Armed Forces carried out precision strikes, reportedly killing over 100 terrorists.

According to reports, India stated that over 100 terrorists were killed in Operation Sindoor, and the count is still ongoing. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said that ‘Operation Sindoor’ is still underway and thus its difficult to provide an exact number. India has also maintained that India will not take any action on its part until Pakistan carries out any provocative action.

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force of India has neutralized a Pakistani intruder in Punjab’s Ferozpur sector on the intervening night of May 7-8. The Pakistani intruder was observed crossing the International Border purposefully and moving towards border security fence taking advantage of darkness.
