Hours after actor Harshvardhan Rane gave a befitting reply to his Sanam Teri Kasam co-star, Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane, on her ‘PR strategy’ jab, she has been removed from the movie’s poster. Read on to get Harshvardhan’s reaction.
Amid the rising tension between India and Pakistan, things got intense between Sanam Teri Kasam stars Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. The actor, who had shared the screen space years ago in a popular Bollywood film, has now been reacting to each other’s comments on social media. And it has clearly been getting messy. For the unversed, it began when Mawra reacted to Harshvardhan’s comment of rejecting the film’s sequel if the makers decided to go ahead with the original cast. Mawra took a dig at Harshvardhan by calling it his “PR strategy”. Someone I expected to have basic common sense has risen from deep slumber with a PR strategy… While our nations are at war, this is what you come up with? A PR statement to get attention? What a pity!” she said. That jab clearly didn’t sit well with Harshvardhan.
Harshvardhan was quick to take to his Instagram handle to react to her statement. In his Instagram Stories, he posted, “That sounded like an attempt at personal attack. Fortunately, I have tolerance to overlook such attempts – but have zero tolerance for any attack on my nation’s dignity.”
He added, “An Indian farmer would pluck out the unwanted weed from his crop its called WEEDING, the farmer doesnt need a PR team for this act, its called common sense. I simply offered to step down from Part 2. I am fully within my rights to choose not to work with individuals who label my country’s actions as ‘cowardly’. So much hate in her speech, so many personal remarks. I never mentioned her name or resorted to calling her names. Didn’t attack her dignity as a woman. I intend to maintain that standard.”
Amid their social media feud, HT City reported that the album of Sanam Teri Kasam only features Harshvardhan. Mawra has been removed from the film’s album covers, which are available on Spotify and YouTube Music. Film’s producer Deepak Mukut told Hindustan Times, “They didn’t ask me, it’s their decision. Whatever our government says, everyone has to follow.”
Harshvardhan too spoke to HT City, “Now they will say that my PR team got this done! No, its again common sense I assume, weeding is being exercised.”
Sanam Teri Kasam was written and directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru. It marked Bollywood debut for both Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane. During its recent re-release, the film found several takers. It was also successful in setting the cash registers ringing at the Box Office.
