Both Raid 2 and Kesari 2 are sequels that had hit theatres during the April-May period. With stars Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar playing the protagonists in their respective movies, both managed to find takers. But which film set the cash registers ringing? We get you the Box Office numbers.
Raid 2 vs. Kesari 2 Box Office Collection: Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh’s recent release Raid 2 have witnessed a slight dip. Nonetheless, it continues to hold strong at the Box Office. It was successful in momentum because it wasn’t pitted against any of the newer releases. It continued to found takers because of the impact it left on the viewers. The film won’t see any competition from any other major Bollywood release until June 6, 2025 when Akshay Kumar-starrer Housefull 5 releases. However, it will face competition from two major Hollywood releases – Final Destination: Bloodlines (which releases on May 16) and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (which releases on May 17).
On day 14, Raid 2 could mint Rs 3.35 crore, and take the the film’s total collection to Rs 133.45 crore. On day 13, Raid 2 added Rs 4.53 crores to the collection, and witnessed about a 7% drop compared to 4.88 crores that it earned on day 12. The film Bollywood until June 6, 2025, when Akshay Kumar will return to the big screens with Housefull 5.
Interestingly, Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari Chapter 2 had earned Rs 1.80 crores on its 14th day, and took the collection to 75.35 crores. The film managed to leave an indelible impact on the viewers, courtesy its subject and impeccable performances. For the unversed, it featured Akshay Kumar as C Sankaran Nair – a spirited man who showed no qualms in waging a war against the British Empire in the courtroom. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the film featured R Madhavan, Ananya Panday, Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day and Amit Sial in key roles. It was produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films.
After nearly a month at the box office, the sequel to Kesari (2019) has earned Rs 88.55 crore nett in India, and struggles to cross Rs 90 crore.
