The Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA) has announced that junior doctors across the state will wear black bands on their aprons while on duty this Saturday, May 24, as a mark of protest. The move is aimed at expressing solidarity with interns and postgraduate students of private medical colleges who have long been demanding fair and regular stipend disbursal.
Despite repeated appeals to the Health Minister, the Director of Medical Education (DME), and the Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) Chairman, the association said the concerns of these young medical professionals have not been addressed.
In a statement, T-JUDA said the black-band protest is meant to be peaceful and united, involving doctors from both government and private institutions. The association also acknowledged a scheduled meeting of private medical college managements on May 24 to deliberate on the stipend issue as a “positive step forward” and urged the authorities to take meaningful action.
