Kanye West is making headlines once again , but this time, it’s because he’s publicly saying he’s “done with antisemitism.
The rapper faced massive backlash for his recent song called Heil Hitler, which caused uproar by repeating the phrase “N-ger, Heil Hitler” fifteen times and making multiple references to Nazis. Fans, critics, and netizens exploded online, condemning the offensive lyrics. But now, Kanye seems to be walking back his hateful remarks and claiming he’s changed.
The controversial song came after a long string of antisemitic rants from Kanye that began in 2022. That year, he sparked outrage by tweeting that he was going “death con 3” on Jewish people, a message that lost him sponsorships and professional ties. Months later, he doubled down with more disturbing antisemitic comments that kept him in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Now, on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter), Kanye posted that he’s “done with antisemitism” and said, “I love all people.” In a follow-up post, he added, “God forgive me for the pain I’ve caused,” and also said, “I forgive those who have caused me pain.” This sudden change in tone caught everyone by surprise , and people are wondering what triggered it.
According to Kanye, it was a FaceTime call from his kids that made him want to “save the world again.” The 24-time Grammy winner wrote, “I simply got a FaceTime from my kids, and I want to save the world again.” It’s a sharp contrast to the anger and bitterness he showed in the Heil Hitler track, where he blamed his ex-wife Kim Kardashian for his recent behavior.
In that song, Kanye rapped, “With all of my money and fame, I still can’t get my kids back,” and shockingly added, “So I became a Nazi, yeah b-tch. I’m the villain.” These harsh lyrics seem to express just how frustrated and hurt Kanye is over his co-parenting struggles.
Kanye and Kim’s relationship has been turbulent, especially since their divorce was finalized in 2022. They were married from 2014 to 2021, and Kim filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. Since then, Kanye has been paying Kim $200,000 a month in child support for their four children, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, but the two have often clashed over how to raise and manage the kids.
Their battles include arguments over North’s use of social media and disagreements about where the kids should go to school. Kanye publicly expressed frustration over Kim’s control, even accusing her of having authority over their children’s “name and likeness.” In March, Kanye went off on Twitter about rapper Playboi Carti wanting to feature North’s vocals on a song, which Kanye wasn’t happy about.
He tweeted, “SO KIM GOT THE NAME AND LIKENESS OVER MY BLACK CHILDREN,” then added, “SO A WHITE WOMAN HAS CONTROL OVER THE NAME AND LIKENESS OF MY BLACK CHILDREN AND THEN SPEAKS TO CARTI ABOUT PUTTING MY DAUGHTER ON A SONG WITH HIM.” Kanye said he decided North wouldn’t be doing any songs with Carti because of how it looked that he was left off the album and Carti was dealing with Kim instead.
Things took an even darker turn when Kanye said in an interview with DJ Akademiks that he regrets having kids with Kim. “That was my fault,” he said bluntly. “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her, but that wasn’t God’s plan.” Kanye feels that he doesn’t have enough say over his children’s public image or custody, complaining, “I don’t have the name and likeness ownership, or at least 50-50 with my kids. So how’s it joint custody?” He also expressed anger that his children, who are highly influential, are controlled by Kim and her family.
The personal turmoil with Kim and their co-parenting battles seems to have contributed heavily to Kanye’s outbursts and his antisemitic episodes. But now, with the FaceTime call, Kanye says he’s ready to move past the hate and negativity.
Meanwhile, Kanye’s feud with Playboi Carti took another twist recently. After being dropped from Carti’s album due to his antisemitic tweets, Kanye released his own version of Carti’s track Alive, featuring NBA YoungBoy. He sampled DJ Swamp Izzo’s ad-libs, which were originally recorded for Carti’s song Crank. Carti responded by dropping his own version of Alive with NBA YoungBoy hours later and posted on Instagram, “DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @YE.” Clearly, the rapper isn’t happy about Kanye hijacking his track.
This ongoing drama shows Kanye West is still at the center of controversy, but his recent statements about quitting antisemitism might be an attempt at redemption. Whether the public buys it is another question. What’s clear is that Kanye’s struggles with co-parenting, his children, and his ex, Kim Kardashian, continue to influence his music and his public image, sometimes in shocking and unpredictable ways.
