Toyota Fortuner MHEV
The Toyota Fortuner hybrid is expected to hit Indian roads in the next couple of months. However, there is no official confirmation yet. The SUV’s powertrain system will feature a 2.8L diesel engine and a 48V mild hybrid system along with an integrated starter generator (ISG), delivering a combined power of 201bhp and 500Nm of torque. Toyota claims the Fortuner MHEV promises 5 percent better fuel efficiency than the diesel-powered Fortuner.
Maruti Escudo
The Maruti Escudo (codenamed Y17) will be a new 5-seater SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, which will be sold via Arena dealership. It will be positioned as a more affordable alternative to the Grand Vitara, it will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other midsize SUVs. The Escudo is likely to share its powertrains with the Grand Vitara that comes with a 103bhp, 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol and a 79bhp, 1.5L strong hybrid unit.
Honda ZR-V

Honda Cars India is reportedly planning to introduce its globally popular ZR-V hybrid SUV by the end of this year. In global markets, the Honda ZR-V is offered with a 2.0L petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. This setup generates a maximum power of 180bhp and 315Nm of torque. It can also be had with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, mated with a CVT gearbox and AWD system.
Renault Boreal/Nissan’s 7-Seater SUV
The new-generation Renault Duster and Duster 7-seater (Boreal) SUVs are among the most-anticipated product launches of 2026. Both SUVs are expected to feature the strong hybrid and mild hybrid powertrain options. The Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV will be offered globally with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine.

Kia 7-Seater SUV
Kia aims to enter the 7-seater SUV segment with a new hybrid model (codenamed MQ4i), expected to be based on the Sorento. It’s might share its platform, features and components with the global-spec Sorento SUV. The new Kia 7-seater SUV could be offered with a 1.5L petrol-hybrid powertrain. Globally, the Kia Sorento is available with a 1.6L turbo petrol engine, paired with an electric motor, delivering power worth 227bhp and 350Nm of torque. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also on offer.
