The former news anchor teased back in November 2024 on Today that she was going full Pinterest-bride mode, “I’m just like every other bride,” she joked. But this isn’t going to be a low-key backyard wedding. Sánchez’s brother Paul told TMZ it’s going to be “like a Princess Di thing,” hinting at how star-studded and extravagant the event is expected to be.
While Jeff Bezos shot down rumors of a $600 million Aspen wedding, Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro confirmed the actual details of this wedding with Lauren Sánchez. The couple will be getting married in the historic Italian city, and only 200 guests are invited. Brugnaro made it clear the event wouldn’t disrupt daily life, calling it “absolutely respectful of the fragility and uniqueness of the city.”
According to the Associated Press, Bezos and Sánchez are making it a point to support the local economy. A full 80% of wedding provisions are being sourced locally. Iconic pastry maker Rosa Salva is curating the guest goody bags, and the chic Murano glass studio Laguna B is crafting special wedding keepsakes. “It’s prestigious that a couple like this, who can go anywhere in the world, are getting married in the city,” said Salva.
The exact wedding venue hasn’t been confirmed, but there are whispers about several elite locations. The couple might wed aboard Bezos’ $500 million yacht Koru or possibly at the San Giorgio Maggiore church. Instead of gifts, Bezos and Sánchez have asked attendees to make charitable donations. But that doesn’t mean guests will leave empty-handed, goody bags filled with artisan Murano glassware and pastries from Rosa Salva are part of the plan.
The wedding is being organized by elite planners Lanza & Baucina Limited, the same team behind celebrity weddings like the Clooneys’ and the Pinaults’. In a statement to Page Six, the planners confirmed their mission is to reduce any impact on locals while employing as many Venetians as possible. “From the outset, our client has been honored to support the city and its all-important lagoon,” the planners noted.
As for the dress, that’s still under wraps. But there’s buzz that Vogue queen Anna Wintour is helping Sánchez choose the gown, and Oscar de la Renta is a top contender. In March 2025, the couple were also seen at a Dolce & Gabbana fitting in Milan, so there’s no telling which fashion house will ultimately get the honor.
