MUMBAI: London’s Abbey Road Institute is delighted to announce the launch of its newest school and first campus in Asia, Abbey Road Institute Mumbai, India. The new Institute will open in September this year, in partnership with Bay Owl Studios, a leading commercial studio in the heart of Mumbai.
This collaboration will give students unparalleled access to industry-standard equipment and real-world experience in a professional recording environment.
Abbey Road Institute Mumbai will offer an intensive and immersive education for aspiring music producers and engineers in a small, intimate environment. It focuses on high-quality audio education delivered in a hands-on apprenticeship style, which prepares graduates to enter the fast-paced music industry and create their own career trajectories. Graduating students will receive an Advanced Diploma in Music Production and Sound Engineering, and the school will offer additional pro-audio programmes in the near future. The course is designed to train students to go straight into the professional audio industry.
Students will benefit from hands-on training, mentorship from industry professionals, and a curriculum that bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Graduates from Abbey Road Institute’s schools have won multiple awards including Grammy, Latin Grammy, Music Producers Guild and Billboard recognition.
Bay Owl Studios, known for its state-of-the-art facilities and commitment to nurturing talent, will host the new Abbey Road Institute. The studio has been home to some of the most influential artists in music and sound today, such as – Divine, Ankur Tewari, Raja Kumari, KSHMR, Ranjit Barot, Jay Sean, Rashmeet Kaur, Nucleya, King, Sona Mohapatra, Neeti Mohan, Karan Kanchan, Raftaar, Amit Trivedi, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, Shaan, and many many more.
Bay Owl and its engineers were recently recognised at the Indian Recording Arts Awards (IRAA), winning Best Mix in the Independent Music Electronic category, as well as Best Sound Mix for Advertising in 2023. From rehearsals, music sessions and post production for TVCs & Digital Films, Bay Owl is a place where ideas are shaped with intention, collaboration, and craft. It is this synergy that will enable students to learn and work in a thriving commercial studio setting, gaining firsthand experience in the music production industry.
