The continuous controversy surrounding Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has peaked ever since he teamed up with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir to promote his most recent film, Sardaar Ji 3. After producer Bhushan Kumar begged the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to lift the restriction on Diljit’s upcoming film, Border 2, amid the current discussions surrounding the ban on Diljit from Indian projects, the federation formally rescinded the ban on the film. But the matter has not yet cooled. However, the prohibition on Diljit Dosanjh’s next movie, Border 2, has now been lifted, according to FWICE President BN Tiwari, following days of growing rumors and social media discussion. India Today reports that the ban on Diljit for his next movie Border 2 been overturned by FWICE. According to BN Tiwari, the association’s president, they made the decision after Bhushan Kumar personally appealed to them. “Yes, the ban has been revoked for this project,” BN Tiwari said.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit gives warning
However, this decision comes with an alert. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who is also associated with FWICE, shared, “So, we have non-cooperation against Diljit continuing. Anyone else who casts him must be prepared for consequences. The Federation won’t be responsible for the financial losses that might follow.”
Additionally, Ashoke stated that future projects will continue to be conducted without assistance from the actor.
The declaration was made just one day after Diljit shared a behind-the-scenes video of himself filming the war movie to quell rumours that he would be replaced in Border 2.
