Two Indian Students Killed, Two Injured in Car Crash in Ireland



Two Indian students lost their lives, and two others were seriously injured after their car crashed into a tree in County Carlow, Ireland. The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Friday on the N80 road in Leagh, Rathoe. Local reports identified the deceased as Bhargav Chitturi and Suresh Cherukuri. Emergency services arrived promptly, but both men were declared dead at the scene. Two other passengers, a man and a woman in their 20s, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to St. Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. While no official cause has been confirmed, road conditions and vehicle speed are being considered as potential factors. The Indian Embassy in Dublin expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and assured that it is extending support to those affected. In a statement shared on social media platform X, the Embassy stated, “The Embassy Team is in touch with the family and friends of the deceased and also extending all possible support and assistance to two Indian nationals injured in the accident.”

The Indian student community in Ireland has been deeply affected by the incident, with many coming forward to offer condolences and support to the bereaved families. Local authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution on Irish roads, especially during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions can be challenging.

Friends and colleagues of the victims are rallying to provide financial and emotional assistance to their families.
