Virat Kohli to play more Ranji Trophy?
Virat Kohli has expressed his desire to continue playing Test cricket for India, despite recent struggles. His return to domestic cricket, playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, was nothing less than a festival. Delhi’s head coach, Sarandeep Singh, revealed that Kohli wishes to represent his state in the coming years, whenever his international schedule permits. Kohli’s love for domestic cricket is evident, but his hectic international schedule may limit his appearances. Sanju Samson to miss IPL 2025?
Sanju Samson’s rough patch just got worse. The batter has fractured his right index finger and will be out of action for 5-6 weeks. This means he’ll miss Kerala’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinal and won’t be back in time for any matches before the Indian Premier League (IPL) starts on March 21. Samson is expected to join the Rajasthan Royals training camp then, but his injury is a big blow to his team and his own chances of getting back into form. No Prithvi Shaw for Mumbai, SKY-Dube in
The Mumbai Cricket Association has announced its 18-member squad for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal against Haryana. Notably, Prithvi Shaw has been left out, possibly due to ongoing fitness and disciplinary concerns. In his place, Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav have been added to bolster the middle order. Shaw, who was dropped from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, may now play for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club in the County Championship starting April 4. New LSG team in the Hundred
The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, owners of the Lucknow Super Giants, have acquired a 49% stake in the Manchester Originals, a team in the English cricket league, The Hundred. The deal values the team at £116 million (Rs 1251 crore). The Lancashire Cricket Club will retain a 51% stake, but may sell some of its shares to the new owners. This marks the second Indian Premier League franchise to invest in The Hundred, after Mumbai Indians purchased the Oval Invincibles. Jasprit Bumrah’s chances of playing in the ICC Champions Trophy are hanging in the balance due to a back stress injury he picked up during the Sydney Test. He’s currently undergoing further scans and assessments at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. With the Champions Trophy squad deadline looming on February 11, the Indian team will be keeping their fingers crossed that Bumrah makes a speedy recovery.
