The iconic Tata Sierra brand name is set to make a grand comeback in India. The SUV will come in its all-new avatar, showcasing the brand’s new design approach, modern technology and product strategy. Its production-ready ICE (internal combustion engine) version, painted in the bring yellow colour, was unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show last month. While we got to see the SUV in flesh, its interior was covered with tinted glasses. Here’re 6 interesting facts about the upcoming new Tata Sierra SUV:
Retaining OG Elements:

The Sierra carries Tata’s new design language, which we have already seen in the Harrier and Safari SUVs. What’s interesting to notice is the SUV retains the old charm with the same silhouette and large alpine windows, squarish wheel arches, and a raised hood.
Compared to the old Sierra, the new one has slimmer light units, shorter front and rear overhands and sharper rake of the roofline. What further differentiates it from the old model are the newly-designed 19-inch alloy wheels with 195/65 R19 tyres. It also misses out on the black plastic cladding and roof rails.

Modern Interior:
The showcased Tata Sierra ICE had tinted window glasses, concealing its cabin details. However, we know that the SUV will have three screens setup – one for the digital instrument cluster and two for the central and passenger side touchscreen infotainment. This unit is likely to measure around 12.3-inchs. It’s expected the new Sierra will have modern cabin layout, packed with premium features. The SUV might come with a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated ‘Tata’ logo, a premium sound system, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, a 360 degree camera, ADAS suite and many more features.

Lounge-Like Experience:
While the older Sierra was offered with the 5-seats configuration with a folding rear bench seat, the 2025 version could be offered with both 4 and 5-seats layout options. The 4-seater version will provide a lounge-like experience with two rear seats offering ample legroom. These seats will have sliding function, offering flexibility to manage cabin and boot space.
Reports suggest that the seats will be deeply contoured and offer an extendable leg support or ottoman function. There might also be features such as rear seat entertainment screens, fold-down arm rests, fold-out tray tables, phone chargers and multiple connectivity options, enhancing its comfort quotient.
Different Platforms For ICE & EV:
Interestingly, the Tata Sierra ICE will be designed on the ATLAS (Adaptive Tech Forward Lifestyle Architecture) platform, while the SUV’s EV version will be built on the Acti.ev platform.

Multiple Powertrains:
The all-new Tata Sierra will be offered with three powertrain options – petrol, diesel and electric. The petrol version is likely to feature a 1.5L direct-injection turbo engine, pushing out a maximum power of 170bhp and 280Nm of torque. The Sierra diesel might borrow the 2.0L engine from the Harrier and Safari SUVs. This unit generates a maximum power of 170bhp and 280Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The Sierra EV is expected to come with multiple battery options, offering a range of over 500km on a full charge.
4X4 Capabilities:
Since the Sierra ICE will use the ATLAS architecture, there is a possibility of 4X4 drivetrain system. Earlier, the carmaker revealed that the ATLAS platform-based vehicles can be made 4X4 with a few mechanical changes. The larger size tyres and high ground clearance will further enhance its off-road capabilities.
