The Tata Sierra SUV will be one of the biggest product launches from the indigenous automaker in 2025. The comeback of Sierra nameplate is significant from both an industry and market perspective as the original Sierra was one of India’s first lifestyle SUVs. Now, its all-new version will challenge Mahindra’s dominance in the lifestyle SUV segment. The SUV will come with both ICE (internal combustion engine) and electric options, aligning with Tata’s long-term EV strategy.

When will the Tata Sierra be launched in India?

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Sierra SUV will go on sale in India in the second half of 2025. However, its exact launch date is yet to be announced. It’s expected arrive near around Diwali season.

What is the expected price of the Tata Sierra?

The prices of the Sierra petrol and diesel models are likely to fall within the range of Rs 20 lakh (for the base variant) and Rs 25 lakh (for the top-end variant). The Sierra EV will be priced at a premium over its ICE counterpart, with expected range of Rs 25 lakh – Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).

What engine options will the Tata Sierra offer?

The Sierra will come with three powertrain options – electric, petrol and diesel. Tata hasn’t yet revealed engine options for the SUV. However, its petrol and diesel versions are likely to feature:

1.5L turbo (170PS)
1.5L diesel (118PS)

Transmission choices might include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic.

However, reports suggest that its higher trims are likely come with a 60kWh battery pack, offering an electric range of around 500km on a full charge. The lower trims might get a smaller battery pack, promising slightly shorter range. The dual-motor AWD setup could be reserved for the higher variants.
