The Indian automobile industry has had an exciting start to 2025, with significant developments shaping the market in the first two months alone. January kicked off with the much-anticipated Auto Expo 2025, showcasing the latest innovations and future-ready vehicles, while February saw the introduction of several new car models. March may not be packed with car launches, but it will still bring many new models to the Indian market. In this article, let’s look at cars launching this month.
1. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara
First on the list is the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara electric SUV. The e-SUV has already started to reach dealerships and is expected to launch sometime in March 2025. The e-Vitara first made its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, and the car will be produced at Maruti’s Gujarat Plant and will be exported to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan.

In terms of design, the Maruti e-Vitara looks very similar to the eVX concept and packs in a muscular design. At the front, it features tri-LED daytime running lights with a closed-off grille. The lower bumper looks similar to the Brezza and houses a small fog lamp with skid plates. The charging port is placed on the front flanks, and it has a prominent bulge over the rear wheel arch. At the sides, it gets aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, which likely measure 18 inches, and the rear door handle is placed on the C-pillar.
At the rear, it features connecting taillights with an integrated spoiler. Other highlights include e-Vitara lettering on the centre, a high-mounted stop lamp, a skid plate, and a small, squarish fog lamp at the lower part of the bumper. In terms of dimensions, the e-Vitara measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,635mm in height and has a generous 2,700mm wheelbase. It has 180mm ground clearance and has a kerb weight of up to 1,900 kgs.

Moving inside, the interior of the e-Vitara looks completely fresh and doesn’t look similar to any other Suzuki products globally. It features floating dual screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen, It also gets a floating centre console finished in gloss black, which packs in controls for gear selection, e-brake, and drive mode selection and also has a wireless charging pad. Other highlights include a two-spoke steering wheel, rectangular AC vents with brushed silver surrounds, a rotary drive state selector and leatherette upholstery. It features Level 2 ADAS and seven airbags.
The e-Vitara is built on an all-new Heartect-e platform designed exclusively for EVs. The company claims that it merges the characteristics of a battery electric vehicle (BEV) with the durability of an SUV. The EV features eAxles, which integrate the motor and inverter into a single unit. The e Vitara will be offered with two battery options – 49kWh and 61kWh. The batteries use LFP (Lithium iron phosphate) ‘blade’ cells sourced by BYD, and the larger 61kWh has a range of up to 500 km on one full charge.
The 49kWh battery will come paired with a single motor placed on the front axle, which puts out 144hp. The bigger 61kWh battery also gets a single motor, but here it puts out 174hp. Both motors produce identical 189 Nm of torque, which is surprisingly low compared to other electric SUVs in the market. There’s also an AWD version offered with a dual motor setup, placed one on each axle and this puts out 184hp and 300Nm torque. Suzuki calls the AWD tech in the e-Vitara e-AllGrip. It features a Trail mode that engages the brakes on wheels lacking traction while directing torque to the wheels with grip. This system effectively simulates a limited-slip differential.
2. Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series
Second on the list is the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, which will be launched on March 17, 2025. The Maybach SL 680 is based on the standard SL 63 Roadster. It enhances the aggressive styling of the standard model with signature Maybach design elements. It gets an illuminated, vertical-slat, sleek front grille with chrome accents everywhere. The Obsidian Black bonnet, adorned with Maybach logos, extends to the soft-top roof, while the rest of the car is finished in a striking Garnet Red shade.

On the sides, the SL 680 gets Maybach-exclusive multi-spoke alloy wheels and black-finished wing mirrors at the rear; the bumper design is smoother and more sophisticated, incorporating chrome embellishments. Moving inside, the SL 680 has the same dashboard layout as the standard model, but here, it gets a dashboard and seats finished in white Nappa leather. It gets a satin silver finish on the AC vents, a new three-spoke steering wheel, and Maybach logos on the roll hoops.

Talking about the powertrain, it’s the same as the SL 63 but is tuned to produce more power. It gets a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that puts out 585 hp of power and 800 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to all four wheels. It can sprint from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.1 seconds.
3. 2025 Volvo XC 90
The third car on the list is the 2025 Volvo XC 90 SUV, which will be launched tomorrow, i.e, March 4, 2025. The new model continues to be based on the same platform and even gets the same engine options, however, it now gets new features and design changes. In terms of design, it takes inspiration from the Volvo EX90, featuring several distinctive design elements. Key highlights include a revamped grille with diagonal slats, vertically positioned air vents on both sides of the bumper, updated ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED headlights, and newly designed alloy wheels.

Moving inside, the overall layout remains the same, but it gets a few minor adjustments. Volvo says it has incorporated recycled materials in the interior and enhanced overall ride comfort. Features-wise, it gets an 11.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with OTA updates, Google-based UI, digital instrument cluster, multi-zone climate control and more.
Talking about the powertrain, it continues to get a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system that puts out 250 hp of power and 360 Nm torque. It comes paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which sends power to all four wheels.
