Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) is one of the few manufacturers in the Indian market that has seen an increase in market share over the last few years. Launching badge-engineered cars in collaboration with Maruti Suzuki, along with keeping track of its popular nameplates, Innova and Fortuner, have been the key drivers of the Japanese carmaker’s sales volume. In this article, we will look at the 5 upcoming Toyota cars in India.

The SUV is powered by the familiar 2.8 litre 1GD-FTV turbo diesel engine, paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. As per Toyota, the Fortuner MHEV is 5% more fuel efficient than the regular Fortuner 2.8 diesel.
The hybrid system also aids the power delivery by providing an additional 16 bhp and 42 Nm torque. The power output figures stand at 201 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. Much like the current model, the Fortuner Hybrid will continue to be offered in both 2WD and 4WD configurations.
3. Toyota Land Cruiser Prado
Reports claiming the comeback of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado have been doing rounds on the internet for a long time. The highly anticipated SUV was also spotted in India in February this year. Codenamed JC250, it is sold as Land Cruiser 250 in some international markets.
Toyota will sell the Land Cruiser Prado in the domestic market via the CBU route and it will sit below the Land Cruiser 300 in the brand’s line-up. Expected to launch in the country by the end of 2025, the LC Prado will likely be powered by a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, shared with the Fortuner. This engine gets the 48V mild-hybrid system with the Prado and comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota will introduce a new 7-seater SUV based on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder this year in the Indian market. It is expected to debut soon after the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater.

We can expect some updates to the design and cabin layout along with the addition of new features with the new SUV.
5. Toyota Taisor Hybrid
Maruti Suzuki is working on the Fronx Hybrid, which is expected to debut later this year in the Indian market. Since the Toyota Taisor is the badge-engineered cousin of the Fronx, we expect the new powertrain to debut in the Taisor as well. However, it is important to note that there is no confirmation on this yet.
The new powertrain which could debut in the Taisor is the Maruti’s in-house HEV series hybrid technology. This setup will employ the familiar 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine under the hood. The major advantage of this range extender hybrid technology is the improved efficiency and in the case of the Taisor Hybrid, we can expect claimed figures of over 30 kmpl.
