The Indian automotive market is witnessing strong demand for the EVs (electric vehicles), and the proof lies in the sales figures. In FY 2024 alone, over 15 lakh EVs were sold across segments, driven by rising fuel prices, improved charging infrastructure, a wider range of options and attractive government incentives. In 2025, the numbers of EVs (especially in the SUV and MPV segments) will shoot up as OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, Kia, MG and Toyota are ready to launch several new models. Here’s a quick look at the key details of the top 9 upcoming electric SUVs/MPVs.

The MG M9 will be the second MG Select exclusive offering, which will compete against the Toyota Vellfire and Kia Carnival. This luxury electric MPV will be offered with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack, a single electric motor and a FWD system. This configuration will offer a maximum power of 245bhp and 350Nm of torque. The M9 delivers a claimed WLTP range of 430km on a full charge.

The Tata Harrier EV might be offered with the multiple battery pack options. The dual motor setup with an AWD system could be reserved for the higher trims. Based on Tata’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture, the Harrier EV will generate up to 500Nm of torque. It will support V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) and V2L (vehicle-to-load) charging capabilities.
Mahindra XUV3XO EV
The Mahindra XUV3XO EV will be one of the upcoming Mahindra EVs planned for this year. While official specification remain undisclosed, it is expected to come with a 35kWh battery pack. The carmaker will make a few EV-specific changes to its design and interior. This electric SUV might feature a closed-off grille, revised front and rear bumpers, new alloys and ‘EV’ badging.
Kia Carens EV

Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the launch of e Vitara for September 2025. This electric SUV will be made available with the 49kWh and 61kWh battery pack options, delivering power worth 143 bhp and 173 bhp, respectively. Both batteries will return a maximum torque of 192.5Nm. Maruti Suzuki confirmed that the EV’s larger battery version will deliver an MIDC-rated range of over 500km.

The overall design and styling of the electric Sierra will be slightly different from its ICE counterpart.

Mahindra XEV 7e
The Mahindra XEV 7e (electric XUV700) will be the third born-electric SUV from the home-grown automaker in India. Designed on the INGLO platform, the EV will share several design elements, features and powertrain with the larger XEV 9e. This means, it will come with the 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery options, promising an MIDC range of 542km and 656km, respectively.
