In the coming 8-9 months, we will witness new brands such as Suzuki and Yamaha foray into the electric scooter segment in India

Earlier this year, Honda forayed into the electric two-wheeler segment with the Activa e: and QC1 scooter models in the Indian market. Suzuki also unveiled its first electric scooter, the e-Access, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January. Bajaj and TVS, the top two players in the e2w segment, also launched new variants of the Chetak and iQube, respectively, in the domestic market. So, in all, it was an action packed first half as far as EVs are concerned. However, the upcoming 6 months promise to be even more thrilling with several electric scooters ready to hit the Indian roads. Let’s talk about these models in detail.

The e-scooter is likely to be equipped with the same 4 kWh battery pack as the River Indie while the range could be around 100 km on a single charge. It will be developed at River’s production facility in Bengaluru while retailed through Yamaha showrooms across the country. Yamaha RY01 price could be in the ballpark of 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom).

The VX2 e-scooter will be offered in three trims namely Lite, Pro and Plus. It will be positioned below the Vida V2 and hence, it will miss out on multiple premium features such as Smart key with keyless go, touchscreen TFT screen, and split-seat setup. However, it will share the battery packs with the Vida V2 and therefore an identical range can be expected. The prices are expected to start around Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom).
