As the second half of the year kicks in a few days from now, we will witness the launch of several middleweight (sub 500cc) motorcycles in the Indian market. The leading two-wheeler brands such as TVS, Hero and Triumph will introduce new models in the domestic market.

The upcoming sub 500cc bikes in India from these companies have already started testing and most of them have been spotted on camera with camouflage. In this piece, we will talk in detail about these new middleweight motorcycles, launching later this year.

1. BMW F 450 GS

The F 450 GS was captured on camera for the first time on the Indian roads near TVS factory in Hosur last month. The ADV bike made its global premiere as a concept at the EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. It was also showcased to the public in India at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

Being the new entry-level model in BMW Motorrad’s portfolio, it will be powered by a newly-developed twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with power output close to 48 bhp. Some of the notable features in the bike will include dual-channel ABS, quickshifter, slipper clutch, alloy with wheels Eurogrip Duratrail EB+ tyres. It will be launched in the next 2-3 months.

2. TVS Apache 450

Reportedly, TVS is working on a 450cc version of the Apache RTR which will be based on BMW’s 450 platform. It has been learnt that the upcoming TVS Apache 450 will be a fully-faired supersport motorcycle. The TVS-BMW partnership has resulted in multiple 300cc models in the past as well in the form of the RR310 and RTR 310.

Both of these were developed on BMW’s 310 platform by TVS at its Hosur plant. And, now it appears that this pattern will continue with the Apache 450 too. Though the exact launch timeline is not announced yet, we are likely to see the bike debut by early 2026.

3. Norton 450cc Bike

Norton Motorcycles will launch its first 450cc model in India by the end of 2025. The TVS-owned British brand will use BMW’s 450 platform for its bikes in India, confirmed Sudarshan Venu, MD of TVS Motor Company. The Norton 450cc bike will be locally manufactured in India at the production facility of TVS in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

It will share several cycle parts, hardware and engine with the upcoming TVS Apache 450. The twin-cylinder 450 platform of BMW Motorrad will be at the helm of the first Norton motorcycle in India, which is likely to be a naked roadster model.

4. Hero Xpulse 421

Hero Xpulse 421, the company’s biggest ADV motorcycle till date, will debut at the EICMA 2025 in Milan, Italy. It will be Hero’s answer to the likes of KTM 390 Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and TVS Apache RTX 300. Sitting on a trellis frame, the Xpulse 421 is likely to feature USD front forks and monoshock rear suspension with preload adjustment.

Riding on a 21-inch front wheel, it will boast of upswept exhaust, handlebar guards, top-box rack and underbelly pan as standard elements. The adventure motorcycle is expected to go on sale in India by early 2026.

5. Triumph Thruxton 400

Triumph is ready to expand its 400cc range of motorcycles with the Thruxton 400 in the Indian market. It presently retails Speed 400, Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400 XC and Speed T4 in India. The Thruxton 400, being a cafe-racer model, takes styling cues from the Speed Triple 1200 RR.

It is expected to share multiple cycle parts with the Speed 400. However, there will be a few distinctive elements to distinguish it from the Speed 400 in the form of clip-on handlebars, bar end mirrors, a single-piece seat and a sculpted fuel tank. It will be launched during the festive season later this year.
