7 Popular SUVs & Cars Getting a Big Update by 2026


Some of the best-selling SUVs and cars are set for a full-generation update by 2026. These models will come with significantly improved designs, upgraded interiors and platforms, hybrid powertrains and features. Here’s a brief overview at the seven popular SUVs and cars arriving soon in the market.

Tata Sierra

The all-new Tata Sierra will be offered with three engines – petrol, diesel and electric. The electric version is likely to borrow the 65kWh single motor and 75kWh dual motor battery pack options, while the ICE version will feature 1.5L turbocharged engines. Spy images suggest the SUV will come with a floating triple screens along with several advanced features.

New-Gen Hyundai Venue

The next-generation Hyundai Venue (codenamed QU2i) will receive comprehensive changes inside and out, while retaining the existing engine setup. Spy images reveal that the compact SUV will have a boxier and a more upright stance than before. It will feature newly-designed 16-inch alloy wheels, thicker body cladding and front and rear disc brakes. In terms of features, the new Venue is likely to get an updated ADAS suite, front and rear parking sensors and more.

New-Gen Kia Seltos

Kia’s popular Seltos midsize SUV will enter its second generation in early 2026. One of the major highlights of the 2026 Kia Seltos will be its hybrid powertrain. The carmaker is likely to hybridise its 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine, which will also power the new-gen Hyundai Creta due in 2027. The all-new Seltos might borrow some design elements and features from the Syros.

New-Gen Maruti Baleno

The new-gen Maruti Baleno will be the brand’s second model to feature its in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain, following the Fronx hybrid. It will come with the Z-Series petrol engine paired with Maruti Suzuki’s own series-hybrid tech. The hatchback is expected to undergo major design changes and interior upgrades.

New-Gen Renault Duster

The third-generation Renault Duster is one of the most-anticipated upcoming new SUVs in 2026. This time, the iconic SUV will return with the hybrid powertrain. It’s likely to feature a 94bhp, 1.6L petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 1.2kWh battery pack. Its combined stands at 140bhp. The lower variants are expected to be offered with a 1.0L naturally aspirated and 1.3L turbo petrol engines.

New-Gen Mahindra Bolero

Mahindra & Mahindra is set to give a generation change to its one of the best-selling SUV – the Bolero. The model is likely to mark debut of Mahindra’s new Freedom NU platform in 2026. The design changes of the all-new Bolero will be inspired by the Thar Roxx such as the circular LED headlamps and a signature ‘Twin Peak’ grille with parallel running slats. Most of its features are likely to be shared with the Scorpio N. No mechanical changes are expected.

New-Gen Toyota Fortuner

The next-generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. However, there is no official word on the product and its launch timeline. According to reports, the SUV is likely to be offered with a 2.0L turbo petrol engine along with the existing options. One of the biggest changes will come in the form of the new TNGA-F platform, replacing the IMV architecture. It might also get a hydraulic steering system and vehicle stability control.
