Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e lock horns with each other in a tight contest in the mid-sized electric SUV segment in the Indian market
Tata Motors has finally launched the Harrier EV in the Indian market. The bookings of the all-electric SUV will officially commence from July 2, 2025 across the country. It is the brand’s fifth EV model in India after the electrified versions of the Tiago, Tigor, Nexon and Curvv. However, it is the first Tata electric car to come with an all-wheel-drive system. Tata Harrier EV will directly rival Mahindra XEV 9e in our country. In this detailed comparison, we will talk about the price, dimensions, battery pack and range of both the electric SUVs.
Tata Harrier EV vs Mahindra XEV 9e: Price
Tata Harrier EV is presented at a starting price of Rs 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The company did not reveal the complete variant-wise pricing and we expect it to come out in the coming weeks. On the other hand, the Mahindra XEV 9e is priced between Rs 22.65-31.25 lakh (ex-showroom), which includes Rs 75,000 for the charger. Hence, the Harrier EV is approx Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the XEV 9e, if the base variant price is taken into consideration.

Tata Harrier EV measures 4607 mm in length, 2132 mm in width, and 1740 mm in height. As for the XEV 9e, it is 4789 mm long, 1907 mm wide and 1694 mm high. As we can see, the Harrier EV is quite broader and higher than its Mahindra counterpart. However, as far as the length is in question, the XEV 9e certainly has an edge over its Tata rival.

The Harrier electric has the same wheelbase of 2741 mm as the ICE-powered version while the XEV 9e has a wheelbase of 2775 mm, which clearly suggests it has more interior space than the Harrier EV.

Coming to the boot capacity, the Harrier EV gets 502 litres of cargo space. In addition, it boasts of a 35 litres frunk (front storage space) for keeping small belongings. As for the XEV 9e, 663 litres of boot space and 150 litres of frunk is on offer, which makes it a lot more spacious for keeping luggage and other belongings than its Tata rival.

Tata Harrier EV vs Mahindra XEV 9e: Battery Pack
The Harrier EV is rolled out with two battery options namely 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The bigger and heavier 75 kWh battery pack comes with a dual-motor setup, i.e. one electric motor on each axle. The electric motor at the front axle dishes out 156 bhp while the one at the rear axle generates 235 bhp. The overall torque performance stands at 504 Nm. It comes with an all-wheel-drive system, aka Quad-Wheel-Drive (QWD). It has a 0-100 kmph sprint time of 6.3 secs.

On the other hand, the XEV 9e is also available with two battery choices: 59 kWh and 79 kWh. The latter is only available in range-topping trims with highest power of 282 bhp and peak torque of 380 Nm. The 0-100 kmph acceleration time is recorded at 6.8 secs. Hence, it is quite clear from this data that the Harrier EV is way more powerful, agile and quick than the XEV 9e.

Tata Harrier EV is claimed to return a driving range of 627 km on a full charge as per the MIDC Part 1 + Part 2 Cycle. However, Tata states that during its internal testing, the SUV delivered a C75 estimated real-world range between 480 – 505 km. The XEV 9e can run for 542 km and 656 km with the 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, respectively, on a single charge. Hence, it is quite evident that the XEV 9e provides longer range than the Harrier EV even with the smaller battery pack.
