Today I’m mixing up Day 2 & Day 3 looks to show you how MAC put into practice the age old tip of using lipstick as blush.
This is a tip that almost all bloggers and makeup artists share in their posts and videos, but it was a real learning point for me to see how MAC used lipsticks not only as blush but also to contour! If you look at the final finish – the blush is barely discernable, it is just a hint of color, and a look that I like. I am not fond of the very obvious blush look.
The first lipstick I want to talk about is Half & Half from MAC. This neutral nude lipstick can be used on Indian skin tones as an excellent contour cream. I feel that it’s Amplified Creme finish must make it easy to blend on the skin. I don’t own this lipstick as I’m not fond of Amplified Creme finish, but I feel that you can use any nude-to-you lipstick for this trick.
This is the look with Half & Half, and the makeup breakdown below it. It reminds me of a very wearable version of Kim Kardarshian’s look.

The second lipstick used as blush is none other than their iconic “Ruby Woo”! To make it easier to blend as it is a Retro Matt finish, they mixed it with a rosy red – brown creme color base which also made it more wearable . I feel the same effect can be duplicated by using a rosy brown cream blush with your cool red lipstick. I imagined using Ruby Woo on the cheeks would mean a very strong blush look, but see how faint & wearable it is!

The lips also look so beautifully stained, I was really surprised to know they had used Diva lipstick to create the centre pout color. Diva is one of those shades that can hold up to Ruby Woo as one of their most attention demanding color, but look how it has been beautifully tempered with Taupe lipstick to create such a natural look!

This is one of my favourite looks from all the shows, simply because of the amount of creativity & innovation in colors and how products were used to multi-task. For example, they have Vintage Rose Creme Color base on the eyes – a rosy red that one would not generally use as an eye-shadow. My only doubt here is that this color base is listed as unsafe for use on the eyes on Temptalia, however they have used it here on the models!
