Martiderm Pigment Zero DSP-Bright Review – Curios and Dreams

Written by: Swati on:

I have been on a skincare journey for many years now, and yet you will be surprised when I say that I haven’t tried a lot of Vitamin C serums. I don’t even use one regularly. Whaaat? A skincare enthusiast not trying out or using the most hyped-up & talked about skincare ingredients?

Having sensitive acne-prone skin, I am generally wary of new products and most formulations since there’s a high chance of making matters worse if I am not careful. But a few months back I felt that my skin was looking somewhat dull and blotchy, it could definitely do with some brightening and the Martiderm Pigment Zero DSP-Bright caught my attention.

Martiderm is a Spanish skincare brand known to make concentrated treatments. They have ampoules of different target ingredients – Vit C, Hyaluronic acid, Glycolic & Lactic acid etc. After some reading and research, I decided to take a leap of faith and invest in this product.

Benefits:

  • Reduces pigmentation & dark spots
  • Diminishes acne scars & redness
  • Skin brightening

What’s in it?

  • 5% Vitamin C is an antioxidant powerhouse, pure L-Ascorbic Acid, the most stable form of Vitamin C helps to fight free radicals and sun damage, helping minimise the appearance of dark spots, pigmentation and acne scars.
  • Phytic Acid is a super mild AHA, it gently exfoliates the skin to shed off dead skin build up and helps to reduce melasma and scarring while fighting the signs of ageing.
  • Tranexamic acid acts as a depigmenting agent, preventing new melanin formation in hyperpigmented areas.

Ingredients : Aqua, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Trimethyl HexylLactone Crosspolymer, Bellis Perennis (Daisy) Flower Extract, Tranexamic Acid, TriEthylHexanoin, Propanediol, Lepidium Sativum Sprout Extract, Hexylrescorcinol, Parfum, Sodium Phytate, Sodium Hydroxide, Polysorbate 80, Polyacrylate Crossplymer-6, Alcohol (solvent), Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Benzoate, Glycerin, Lecithin, Ascorbic acid, Silica, Soy Isoflavones, Disodium Phosphate, Melissa Officianalis Leaf Extract.

The serum comes packed in glass ampoules to keep the formula fresh & stable. There’s a plastic “easy opener” that can be attached over the ampoules to break the neck easily without hurting your fingers. Just shake the ampoule well, put on the opener & press it until you hear a click. Each ampoule comes with its own plastic dispenser. Attach it to the opened ampoule to dispense the serum easily.

Take out an adequate quantity (2-4 drops) and pat it in. Follow it up with your regular moisturizer & sunscreen if you are using it in the day.

– The serum itself is watery with a floral fragrance. I don’t have a problem with fragrance in skincare products but would have preferred the serum to have a milder scent or be fragrance-free.

– Doesn’t feel heavy, sticky or oily once absorbed completely. It also adds light hydration.

– Martiderm suggests using 1/2 the ampoule in the morning & 1/2 in the evening. But since I wanted to take it slow, I used the serum only at night. One ampoule gave me ∽3 uses.

– This small set doesn’t come with the stand to hold the ampoule or a cap to close the plastic dispenser. While I don’t care much for the stand, I wish a small cap was included in the pack. I had to use some tape to close the opening so that it doesn’t get exposed to air.

** As advised by Martiderm, remember to use adequate sun protection during the day while using these ampoules.

What did I notice after using these ampoules for 15 days?

– My skin looked more even-toned and brighter

– I didn’t see a huge difference in older acne scars & hyperpigmentation. Perhaps it would show better results on them if I used the serum continuously for longer?

– I didn’t get any breakouts or irritation, which is great.

Price : 950 INR for 5 ampoules or 5450 INR for 30 ampoules

Will I repurchase it?

Most probably. The delivery system is fantastic – the serum stays fresh and you use it up before it even gets the chance to oxidise. I would definitely consider getting the smaller 5 pack again as a booster, to be used once in a while. I think it will be a good product to get before a special occasion when my skin could do with some oomph & brightening. I would probably need to get the full 30 ampoule pack & use the serum for longer to see a significant reduction in pigmentation spots & acne scars. Considering that the full pack is priced on the higher side, I would get it if I find it at a good discount.
