Shah Rukh Khan reveals he does household chores and cleaning off-set
Shah Rukh Khan recently marked his presence at the first edition of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Mumbai on May 1, 2025, where he sat down with Deepika Padukone for a conversation moderated by Karan Johar. During the conversation, the filmmaker asked the superstar what his daily life behind the camera at his grand mansion, Mannat, looks like. In his response, Shah Rukh Khan gave an unexpected answer and said:
“My close friends know that I generally don’t do much. My father taught me, ‘Jo kuch nahi karte hain woh kamaal karte hain. I do some household chores, help clean the house, and assist my son AbRam with his books and updating his iPad. I avoid overdoing, overthinking, and overworking. I am usually in a meditative state of mind. When I am not on set, I honestly don’t do anything.”
Shah Rukh Khan, who is known to be a great host in Bollywood, mentioned that he makes new friends, plays with his kid and prefers to keep things till there only. He added that apart from these tasks, he does nothing and takes the opportunity to have some ‘me time’ when he isn’t working. Karan, who is a close friend of SRK, chimed in and said that he isn’t sure about the actor cleaning his home on a non-working day, but the person sitting next to him (Deepika) always cleans her home. Showcasing his witty side, Shah Rukh said:
“Yeah, and I sometimes call her ki mere bhi ghar saaf karde.”
Shah Rukh Khan opens up about his bond with his kids
Shah Rukh Khan, who is married to Gauri Khan, has often shared how his kids, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam, are a significant part of his life. In the same conversation, he once again revisited his bond with kids and mentioned that, unlike the common notion that stars feel lonely at the top, his children never let him feel so. Showcasing his witty side, the actor mentioned that his kids never let him feel lonely and always make him laugh. The Diwale actor also added that his family doesn’t take him seriously and rather laughs at him when he tries to discipline someone. Sharing how his kids react when he scolds them, SRK said:
“Main itna funny hoon mere bacchon ke liye (My kids think I’m so funny), that even when I scold or try to discipline them. I also scolded Deepika while shooting Om Shanti Om. When I say something, like listen, you have to sleep by 10 o’clock or something. What do they do? ‘Oh my god, S R K.’ So, I am a joke in my house.”

Shah Rukh Khan, also known as the ‘King of Bollywood’, began his acting journey in showbiz by starring in TV shows like Fauji and Circus. He made a sensational debut in the early ’90s with Deewana where he managed to gain attention despite starring with big stars like Rishi Kapoor and Divya Bharti. Since then, Shah Rukh rose to success with films like Baazigar, Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Swades, Chennai Express and Pathaan, among others. Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Dunki co-starring Taapsee Pannu and would be next seen in King.
