Suchitra Krishnamoorthi apologizes for falsely accusing Ahmedabad plane crash survivor of Lying: ‘Took out my…’

Actress and singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, popularly known for her role alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, has found herself under hot water after falsely accusing the sole survivor of the Ahmedabad plane crash, Vishwas Kumar Ramesh of faking his role as one of the passengers. The terrifying incident took the world by shock, 270 innocent people lost their lives, and amidst the destruction, Vishwas’s miraculous survival brought hope.

Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s controversial tweet

In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Suchitra Krishnamoorthi claimed that the sole survivor of the terrifying crash was lying. Her statement reads, “So this #vishwaskumarramesh lied about being a passenger on the plane & the only survivor? This is seriously weird. Didn’t his family in the UK corroborate his story? What about his brother’s funeral that he was seen giving kandha to?” she had written, further suggesting that if the rumour were true, Vishwas “deserved serious punishment or a mental asylum.”

Within minutes of the tweet, the actress found herself in the spotlight. Suchitra faced severe backlash for questioning the credibility of the plane crash survivor, spreading misinformation, and releasing insensitive statements. Social Media users and journalists highlighted that Vishwas’s survival was officially confirmed by an Ahmedabad hospital and widely reported by reputable news channels and other sources. However, within hours, the actress deleted her tweet and released a public apology for her remark.

Suchitra’s follow-up tweet reads, “Took out my last tweet on the Air India crash survivor. Seems to be false news circulated for God knows what reason. My apologies.” She also highlighted that she had received the false information from her friend on social media.

Talking about the sole survivor, Vishwas Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national, is originally from Diu. He visited India with his brother Ajay to visit family and was returning to London with him on the Ahmedabad-Gatwick flight on June 12.
