Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman took to X/Twitter and shared data on Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection for the month of April 2025. The FM revealed
Gross GST collections for April 2025 stood at ₹2.36 lakh crore, marking a 12.6% increase over the gross collection of ₹2.10 lakh crore in April 2024.
She added,
Net GST collections for April 2025 reached ₹2.09 lakh crore, reflecting a 9.1% growth compared to the net collection of ₹1.92 lakh crore in April 2024.
Sitharaman further expressed her gratitude to the taxpayers, while stating how the GST collection reflects the shining Indian economy amid the global turbulence
The figures showcase the resilience of the Indian economy and the effectiveness of cooperative federalism. Deepest gratitude to the taxpayers whose contributions and faith in the GST architecture drive the nation’s progress. Their contributions reflect a shared commitment to building a Viksit Bharat.

Where is all this money going? We don’t see any improvements in social security, public healthcare, greenery, parks, public education, job opportunities, etc. Why highest tax slabs are being imposed on even small cars & scooters. 18% GST on ice cream and health insurance.
