Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness has finally shared her thoughts for the first time since she filed for divorce from the popular actor. “My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Deborra-Lee Furness was quoted as saying by Daily Mail. Deadpool & Wolverine star Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness got married in 1996. After 27 years of marriage, they announced their separation in 2023, and also told their fans that they wanted to focus on “individual growth”.
Deborra-Lee Furness filed for divorce after they faced difficulties in splitting their $250 million fortune. She had referred to their split as “a profound wound that cuts deep”. “However I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us,” Furness had added.
On Friday, Furness had filed the divorce papers in New York. As reported by LA Times, all legal formalities were completed, with just the judge’s signature remaining to finalise their divorce. “A settlement was reached that Deborra is pleased with, which includes a handsome spousal support payment,” a source had told the Daily Mail on Tuesday. “There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement but, in the end, [Deborra] got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure.”
Earlier this year in January, Hugh Jackman was seen holding hands with his former Music Man costar Sutton Foster. They were photographed as they enjoyed a night out for dinner in Santa Monica, California. Sutton Foster had filed for divorce from husband Ted Griffin in October 2024. They had been married for a decade.
In an interaction with PEOPLE at the 2024 Drama Desk Awards in June, Sutton had referred to Hugh as “one of the greatest guys ever, an incredible costar.” While making a joint appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote Music Man in May 2022, the actress said, “The show is so joyful, and I’m having the time of my life playing opposite this guy.”
