The debate over insider vs outsider in Bollywood has always grabbed a lot of attention. Nepotism and more – there has been enough discussion with big celebs making big statements. Now, Shah Rukh Khan has shared his views on insider-outsider debate. He is the King of Bollywood and enjoys the greatest fandom that anyone has ever seen. It is known to all that he entered the film industry without any godfather or filmy background, and achieved the greatest heights of success with his sheer hard work and talent. He recently attended the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) and spoke about the insider-outsider debate.

Shah Rukh Khan attended the session called ‘The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler’. Deepika Padukone was also a part of it and Karan Johar was the moderator. King Khan mentioned that he disagreed with the insider and outsider labels saying, “I would like to clarify, hunger are lofty words. I have a problem with the distinction of insider and outsider.” Shah Rukh Khan emphasised that it is important to make space in the industry and it won’t happen if one keeps feeling pity. He added that one must carve his/her own path rather than waiting for success to be served on platter.

Further, he shared about his experience and revealed that the industry welcomed him with open arms. He spoke about losing his family and finding a new one in the industry. Shah Rukh Khan said, “When I came here, I never told myself I don’t belong. I lost a family in 24 hours, and in the next 24 hours, I gained a new one. Everyone embraced me like a new son arriving at Marine Drive. I felt this world was mine—this place was mine.”

Shah Rukh Khan has always been a candid talker. The actor also humorously spoke about a film that nearly made him quit the film industry. He shared that Karan Johar once narrated him a script that required him to wear a skirt for the entire film. He hilariously said that it was the only time when he felt like stepping away from acting.
