The Traitors has begun on Prime Video from June 12. It is a ten episode reality series that is winning hearts. The show is the Indian adaptation of the popular American reality show of the same name. Adapted from the Dutch series De Verraders, The Traitors dares to do what few Indian reality shows have attempted: make trust the ultimate currency. Karan Johar is the host of the first season of The Traitors in India. The reality series was shot in Suryagarh Palace, Rajasthan. 20 celebrities have participated in this show. They are all from different fields and that makes the show more interesting.
We have stars like Sudhanshu Pandey, Purav Jha, Maheep Kapoor, Uorfi Javed, Raj Kundra, Jannat Zubair, Jasmin Bhasin, Karan Kundrra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Nikita Luther, Sufi Motiwala, Elnaaz Norouzi, Lakshmi Manchu, Janvi Gaur, Anshula Kapoor, Sahil Salathia, Mukesh Chhabra, Raftaar, Apoorva Mukhija, and Harsh Gujral. The show is trending on social media and we have seen the love growing with every episode.
Why The Traitors is loved?
The concept is seemingly simple but tense: a few chosen traitors must secretly plot to murder the rest, all while trying to win the game and the Rs 1 crore prize pool built along with the innocents, who are left to figure out who’s an innocent and who’s lying through their teeth.
We have seen some amazing moments in the show. One such was when Apoorva Mukhija aka The Rebel Kid identified Raj Kundra as the traitor. She declared “I am 10,000 percent sure.” And she was right! Raj revealed himself shortly after he was banished during the most entertaining segment ‘Circle of Shaq’ giving viewers a deliciously satisfying eureka moment . It showed early on that the game wasn’t just about shouting or scheming — it was about sharp observation, gut instinct, and a whole lot of courage. This is a big story in Entertainment News.
Another amazing thing about the show is the host. Yes, Karan Johar has been doing a fabulous job. He is the perfect host for this ruthless game. Like Claudia Winkleman and Alan Cumming , hosts of the UK and US versions, respectively, Karan has also won hearts. He has added the desi flavour to the show.
Circle of Shaq winning hearts!
The ‘circle of shaq’ is another interesting part about the show. Every round table – Circle of Shaq, unfolds like a suspense thriller, with whisper alliances and shifting loyalties keeping both the players and the audience on edge. We have also seen so many new things coming up in the show.
We see the participants showing their real self. It’s full of human flaws, fire, egos and vulnerability. We have seen a fiery moment when Uorfi and Apoorva had a fight. Uorfi sternly told Apoorva, “You are not on my level.” We have also seen Raj Kundra’s short yet emotional journey. He said, “I’ve been called many names, so I thought — why not own the tag on my terms? ” He joined the show hoping people might see him beyond the headlines.”
This emotional rawness distinguishes The Traitors from other Indian reality shows. We all feel emotional when someone gets eliminated because the one who leaves is either betrayed or killed. That, honestly, is what gives the show its staying power. It doesn’t rely on chaos — it relies on the very human fear of being betrayed.
The Traitors arrives at a moment when audiences crave bold formats with real emotional depth. With strategic gameplay, opulent visuals, and sharp cultural interplay, it stands to redefine Indian unscripted TV—if it maintains balance between intrigue and integrity. Whether it joins the bandwagon of iconic Indian reality shows depends on its ability to be both watchable and wise. So, let’s see what the upcoming episodes unveil.
