Businessman and ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor, Sunjay Kapur, passed away on June 12 at the age of 53. Post his demise, statements made by his wife Priya Sachdev about family dynamics have gone viral.
Sunjay Kapur‘s untimely demise brought a lot of spotlight on the family dynamics shared by his kids, wife Priya Sachdev and ex-wife Karisma Kapoor. After separating from Karisma Kapoor with whom he has two children, Sunjay Kapur tied the knot with Priya Sachdev. However, Karisma and Sunjay maintained a cordial relationship for kids – Samaira and Kiaan. In one of the interviews, Priya Sachdev too spoke about the decision to include Karisma Kapoor in family gatherings.
When Priya Sachdev spoke about involving Karisma Kapoor in family gatherings
In an interview with Kin and Kindness, Priya Sachdev had said that she could never be Samaira and Kiaan’s mother acknowledging Karisma Kapoor’s presence in their lives. But she did say that they have a ‘blended family’ where everyone enjoys each other’s company. She said that Sunjay and her have four children – Samaira, Safira, Kiaan and Azarias. She also spoke about including Karisma Kapoor in family gatherings. It was a decision made by her and Sunjay after a lot of conversations. She mentioned that she asked to invite Lolo over tea and it led to dinner. Eventually, Karisma Kapoor joined them over family gatherings as kids wanted her to. Priya also shared about her hesitation by saying “I did wonder—would she feel comfortable? Would I? Could I be myself in pajamas, sipping coffee? But after a few such gatherings, it all became very natural.”
As reported by TOI, Priya Sachdev also revealed an incident when her son Azarias asked why wasn’t Karisma Kapoor in the picture when she was making a card for New Year. She then made a new one including Karisma and her son was happy.
Sunjay Kapur’s death
Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12. He was playing a polo match in London when he collapsed on field after suffering a heart attack. He was just 53. His funeral was held in Delhi. Karisma Kapoor, Samaira, Kiaan attended the funeral and stood in support of Priya Sachdev and kids. They also attended the prayer meet.
