Popular television actress Shagun Sharma has been finalized as the new female lead of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. Yes, you read that right! The much-awaited reboot of the iconic show will soon be launched and fans are quite excited for the same. As per reports, Tanisha Mehta was being considered for the role. But, it seems as if the makers of the show have roped in Shagun to play the central character in the show.
Shagun was last seen in Yeh Hai Chahatein and played the role of Kashvi. She managed to impress everyone with her exceptional performance in the show. She has also been part of shows including Ishq Par Zor Nahi and Sasural Genda Phool 2. She is a familiar face on Indian television and wins hearts with her infectious smile.
As per reports, actor Rohit Suchanti will be playing the male lead. Fans are quite excited to witness Shagun and Rohit’s on-screen chemistry in the show. Rohit has been part of shows like Bhagya Lakshmi, Sasural Simar Ka, and Balika Vadhu 2.
5 OG stars to reprise their roles
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is being produced by Ekta Kapoor under her production house Balaji Telefilms. The OG show starred Smriti Irani as Tulsi Virani and the show was a cult. It is still remembered as the most iconic and successful Indian TV serial that managed to keep audiences glued to the screens. The show had set new records in TRPs during its original run from 2000 to 2008.
The makers have not revealed many details about their storyline or the cast. But, the show will surely be a blend of traditional family drama with a modern twist. As per reports, the production team is working hard to maintain the essence of the original show and will be roping in 5 original characters of the show who will reprise their characters. As per Filmibeat reports, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Sandeep Baswana, Shilpa Agnihotri, and Rakshanda Khan are likely to make a comeback in the second season. A source was quoted saying, “They are in talks to reprise their iconic characters, which played a huge role in the original show’s success. Their return is expected to bring a wave of nostalgia among fans. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, talks are progressing well, and the makers seem keen on bringing back this beloved star cast to recreate the magic of the original show”.
As per the ongoing buzz, the show is expected to hit the TV screens on July 3.
