Ahead of Father’s Day, Rahul Sharma of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai spoke about the influence that his father has had on him.
Father’s Day is around the corner. It is the day to celebrate and cherish the bond that one shares with dad. We recently got in touch with actor Rahul Sharma to know about his bond with his father. The actor is currently seen in Rajan Shahi’s show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai that also stars Samridhii Shukla and Rohit Purohit. He entered the top show post the leap. He plays the character of Anshuman and in no time, he has become a fan favourite due to his jovial character. Talking about Father’s Day, Rahul Sharma shared how his father’s influence shaped his life.
Rahul Sharma called his father as his ‘first role model’. He praised his father for the kind of hard work he put in and the way took care of family. He mentioned that his father’s discipline and dedication toward his work shaped his values. He added that his father would work long hours without complaining and that is something that he has inherited. He shares the same work ethic as working for long hours doesn’t bother him much.
Rahul Sharma further spoke about legacy and mentioned that his father is proud of him even though he did not follow his footsteps. “I made him a promise that I’d leave home, make a name for myself, and live this dream. I think I’m somewhere in the middle of that journey now. He’s proud, and that’s what matters,” the Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor said. Further adding, “I don’t think I’m carrying forward his legacy in a traditional sense. But maybe I’ve gone beyond it. If I had taken a government job or joined the family business, maybe he would’ve been proud too—but this, what I’m doing now, makes him prouder.”
Talking about the importance of Father’s Day, Rahul Sharma admitted that one cannot define father or his role. However, such special days are important to appreciate those things that one often takes for granted, he added.
Rahul Sharma was also asked about his cherished memories with his father and he mentioned that the childhood trips used to be fun. But he also added that his father played the tough parent and pushed him to be serious in life. “That was his gift to me,” he said.
