Shilpa Shirodkar, the B-town actress, is stealing all the limelight after her stint in the Bigg Boss 18 show. While Shilpa manages to steal eyeballs with her mature demeanor and kind-hearted persona in the show, she is gaining attention due to her massive weight loss. Shilpa has undergone a remarkable weight loss transformation, shedding 13 kilograms after her stint on the show. The actress recently shared photos on social media showcasing her dramatic change, crediting fellow contestant Avinash Mishra’s management of house rations for kickstarting her fitness journey.
Shirodkar revealed she lost 11 kilograms during her time in the Bigg Boss house and an additional 2 kilograms afterward, bringing her total weight loss to approximately 13-14 kilograms.
The actress is now following a structured diet plan to maintain her weight loss. “I am now on a proper diet. I have to maintain this weight loss, and in fact, I want to lose even more weight because, on screen, you always appear bigger. I’m trying to control my portions and stick to just one or two meals a day,” she revealed.
Shilpa seems to be adhering to intermittent fasting and OMAD diet, which is a type of restricted eating that has a set of guidelines. Some of these regulations include choosing to eat only during specific hours of the day or fasting in the morning and eating only one meal a day. Because fewer calories are consumed, weight loss may result. In order to maintain their fitness, many celebrities, including Nagarjuna and Malaika Arora, also swear by intermittent fasting.
“It feels great! For the first time in my life, I hear people saying things like, ‘My God, you’ve become so slim!’ But more than anything else, I love the feeling—I feel so energetic all the time,” Shirodkar shared in an exclusive interview with Times of India TV.
The actress has been receiving numerous compliments on her transformation. “I receive so many compliments! One of the most common is that I’m reverse-aging, and people keep telling me I look amazing,” she said.
Shirodkar’s family, particularly her sister Namrata, has responded positively to her transformation. “They are obviously very happy that I’ve lost so much weight, but even happier that I don’t look unwell because of it. When I first met Namrata after coming out of the house and a gap of three-four months, she was surprised to see the new avatar. Her first reaction was ‘oh god you have really lost weight.’ My family is very happy and proud of me,” she explained.
She attributes the initial weight loss to Avinash Mishra’s management of food rations. “I credit Avinash because when he was in jail, we all received very little food, and all of us lost weight. I feel that was the starting point for me. Avinash will always have my thanks,” Shirodkar stated.
Reflecting on past opportunities, Shirodkar shared, “For me, missing out on Chaiyya Chaiyya never mattered much at that time. What truly mattered was my dream of working with Mani sir, who made Dil Se. As an actor, it was a dream opportunity, and I felt I lost it, unfortunately, because of my weight. It’s not like I didn’t try to lose weight—I did—but maybe 15 days just weren’t enough. Today, things have changed, and there is work for everyone. But to be honest, you still need to be presentable.”
Describing recent encounters, she said, “People are noticing the change and talking about it, which makes me so happy. If I want to work with the best, I need to look my best, and I’m making a conscious effort to maintain this.”
