Lizzo's weight loss journey: Everything she eats in a day

Lizzo returned to the Saturday Night Live for the fourth time, as a guest for the iconic late-night show hosted by Jon Hamm. She delivered an energetic rendition of her new song Still Bad and surely stole the show. Just like her performance, Lizzo’s weight loss journey too has grabbed the attention of her fans.
Her recent pictures and videos too are taking the internet by storm. While appearing on Jay Shetty’s podcast, Lizzo said that she is on an ‘intentional weight release journey’.
She has been vocal about her ‘weight release journey’ since 2023. Her choice of not using the word ‘weight loss’ stems from the thought that it should not negatively impact her fans.
She focuses on overall wellness, with her weight loss journey. “Once I started working out for mental health, to have balanced mental health or endorphins, so that I don’t look at myself in the mirror and feel ashamed of myself, and feel disgusted with myself, exercise has helped me shift my mind, not my body,” Lizzo said in 2023. Her weight loss journey is remarkable, and it’s only natural that everyone wants to know about her diet and workout routine.
Along with lifestyle changes, Lizzo also ensures to eat a balanced diet. Here’s a realistic view of what Lizzo eats in a day.
Morning drink
In an earlier video shared on Instagram, Lizzo shared her daily meal plan, ‘as a former vegan who added protein to her diet’.
She begins her day with lemon water. Drinking lemon water in the morning offers several potential benefits, including boosting hydration, aiding digestion, and potentially supporting weight loss.
Some days she loves to enjoy a healthy smoothie made of cocoa energy powder, almond milk, banana, and ice. She is an ‘almond milk girlie’ now!
Breakfast
A former vegan, Lizzo has now added protein to her diet. She also follows a Japanese diet, which is quite clean and delicious according to her. “My reintroduction to protein started with Japan. Someone suggested I try a Japanese diet because it’s one of the healthiest diets in the world, and it has some of my favorite foods. When I got to Japan, I was in awe at how clean and delicious their food was. I indulged in fresh sushi and fluffy eggs, and I was amazed at how good my body felt the next day. And that led me on a journey to figure out how animal proteins affect my body,” she said.
Lizzo’s ideal breakfast is egg white cups, cauliflower hashbrowns, and fruit.

Lizzo’s weight loss diet also has okra water. Okra water, which is made by soaking okra pods in water overnight (typically 4–5 pods in a glass of water) is low on calories. It may help to keep you fuller for longer, and thereby curb cravings.
Lunch

Lizzo keeps her lunch pretty simple. She has a buffalo chicken lettuce wrap with mustard, which is high in protein and could aid weight loss. “After tests and research, I found that animal proteins helped me have more energy, lose weight, and helped with my mental fog. I do believe that the vegan diet is still the healthiest diet to have, and I aspire to one day be a raw alkaline vegan. Until then, this is the diet that’s helped me reach my goals and helped me feel good in my body,” Lizzo says.

She also expresses that its ‘scary’ to talk about it, because veganism is ‘such a sensitive subject’. “People are vegan for many reasons, whether it be health or environmental or love for the animals or all of the above. I’m aware of how people could take this and how it can make them feel. But I’d rather be honest and share my story in my own words. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, white meat only, or fully carnivorous, I’m not gonna judge you. Do what’s best for you in your life at that moment. All that matters is that you’re happy. And if you’re happy, I’m happy, she says.

Lizzo likes to have homemade peach tea in the evening. She is particular about making it at home, to avoid unnecessary chemicals and preservatives in it. Peach tea is loaded with antioxidants like polyphenols and vitamin C helps to combat oxidative stress and supports immune health. This tea is also good for digestion and has natural anti-inflammatory properties, which can soothe an upset stomach or mild bloating. The subtle sweetness of peach also gives a calming effect.

Dinner
Lizzo’s dinner is nutritious and sumptuous. She has grilled chicken, asparagus, and carrots for dinner. Chicken provides her with high-quality protein, which is essential for muscle repair, metabolism, and overall energy. Asparagus is rich in fiber, folate, and vitamins A, C, and K – all of which support digestion and immunity. The carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A to promote healthy vision and skin.
