Plus an astro-tarot forecast, journaling prompts, and Womanrunes reading for the Virgo lunar eclipse + full moon.

The March 2025 lunar eclipse falls in the sign of Virgo. The Virgo archetype is logical and practical, with an eye for detail and the steadfastness to go after their goals. This is a sign that thrives on meticulous planning, on honing skills to perfection and gaining mastery over their chosen vocation.
Spiritually, the Virgo archetype teaches the principle of devotion. One way to understand this principle is by looking at it through the lens of one’s devotion to their craft. While all the buzz seems to point towards profiting from your passion, there are numerous examples of famous writers and artists who held down a day job for most of their lives. Franz Kafka was an insurance clerk, Harper Lee was an airline ticketing agent, Mark Rothko was an elementary school teacher and Paul Gauguin was a stockbroker. They could all have given in to the dull drudgery of making a living, but they didn’t — and the world is much richer for their devotion to their craft.
This Virgo full moon also kicks off eclipse season, with a total lunar eclipse that will be visible in Europe, much of Asia and Australia, parts of Africa, North America, South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic and Antarctica.
Lunar eclipses typically bring endings and closure, helping us to release things that no longer serve us. Expect sudden changes in consciousness, intuitive insights, and pattern-breaking a-has around this time. The seeds that you planted six months ago, at the solar eclipse, will also start to blossom around this lunar eclipse.
The March 2025 full moon also highlights the concept of home — where we lay down our roots, the people we consider family, and this body that we inhabit, which is also our home. With all the chaos and upheaval at this time, we really need to ground into the home we live in, the land we move on, the body we inhabit, and the thoughts we engage with. How can we create a sanctuary, a meeting place, for ourselves and the ones we love, without completely disengaging or numbing out from the things that are happening outside our homes? That’s the question we are grappling with during this Virgo full moon.
Astro-tarot influences for the March 2025 full moon lunar eclipse in Virgo
To throw some more light on the March full moon astrology, let’s take a look at the astro-tarot influences of this lunation. This lunar eclipse falls in decan 3, which is represented by the 10 of Pentacles. This is to be interpreted in conjunction with The Hermit, which is associated with Virgo.

The Daily Pause Oracle Deck
I designed this beautiful, 40-card oracle deck to bring in some stillness, to give us a word or an idea to reflect on as we go about our day.
Supported by the four elements – earth, air, fire, water – and a carefully thought-out structure that connects the cards, The Daily Pause oracle will help you to listen to and trust your own inner knowing.
There’s no learning curve involved with using this deck. Just get quiet, shuffle the cards, pull one out, and reflect on the word you’re presented with.
There’s an interesting dichotomy that springs to mind when I look at these cards. On the one hand, I think of contentment, stability, and strong family ties, and how that reflects our broader theme of rooting into the concept of home. On the other, I think of our global family, and of how divided and bitter we have become. I think of late-stage capitalism and the concentration of wealth in the hands of a miniscule global population; of the dominance of the Western world and the callous disregard of their foreign policies as it relates to the Global South; of the rising otherisation and hatred towards anyone who does not think exactly like us; of the continued devastation that colonialism, racism, and the patriarchy are wreaking on marginalized communities and peoples around the world.
While some of these systemic inequalities are becoming increasingly clear to us, we don’t yet have answers — and certainly not the political will — to make any sweeping changes to make this global home a more just and equitable place. But it is necessary to be aware of the larger inequalities in the world, so we can do our small part in trying to make a change. Simple things, like offering sliding scale pricing, community support, volunteering, raising kinder and more aware children, and radicalizing our peer groups, will go a long way to eventually, hopefully, making this global home a more comforting and nurturing space for people of all colors and faiths and economic backgrounds.
All of these changes start from our own homes. From the small, simple things we do to regulate our nervous systems and weave our own brand of activism, while creating spaces of nurturance and comfort in our own lives. In the midst of all the doom and gloom, noticing the small joys, the micro moments of happiness, the simple pleasures; of filling your own well; of feeling grounded and nurtured and rested; of retreating from the rhetoric; is almost imperative. Because when we are ensnared in a loop of overwhelm and doom scrolling, we can’t do anything constructive, caught as we are in a loop of low-level anxiety and stress.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is retreat from the noise. Cocoon into our own lives. Look at the world that is right outside our window. Observe our communities, our neighbors. Observe how much of the online noise and the political rhetoric is tricking down into our spaces. Do what we can to fortify and strengthen our own boundaries, our homes, form our little communities of support.
And then ask yourself if you are giving yourself the permission to nest? To enjoy little moments of contentment and peace and beauty? Or have you absorbed capitalist, patriarchal ideas around productivity, success, achievements {hint: you most probably have} and are you aware of how those ideas inform your actions and beliefs?
With the Moon forming an opposition to both Saturn and Neptune, finding the answers to these questions and dismantling systems of oppression becomes even more important. There is a need to focus on self-care and grounding practices at this time as emotions may be heightened. With the Moon forming a beneficial trine with Uranus, though, we have the potential to change and shake-up long-held beliefs, and to dismantle capitalist, colonial, patriarchal thinking as it shows up in our own lives.

The Womanrunes just blow me away with their depth and with how on point they always are. The Crowned Heart is such a beautiful rune to carry us through this time. A reminder to have compassion for the marginalized; for the ones living in war torn lands; and even for ourselves, as we navigate all of the chaos that has become emblematic of these times.
This is also the rune of unconditional love. Of opening our hearts, wider and then wider still. Of inviting in joy and beauty and wildness and freedom and love. Simple, small things that give us life force in a time when there is so much that sucks away our vitality if all we do is doomscroll or numb out or check out.
This rune is an invitation to grounded, compassionate presence, especially in these times.
The Womanrunes were created by Shekhinah Mountainwater in 1987. There were originally no written interpretations available for these runes, other than the name and one word meanings, which offer tremendous scope for personal interpretation. The remastered original hand drawn Womanrunes can be purchased here. Molly Remer subsequently wrote Womanrunes: A Guide to Their Use and Interpretation, based on her own meditations and interpretations of the runes. Her book is available on Amazon and Etsy.
Tarot spread for the lunar eclipse in Virgo
Here’s a tarot spread to tap into the energy of this full moon.

Ground: What anchors me in my personal life? Look at the suit of the card and imagery for clues.
Cocoon: In what area of my personal life do I need to cocoon and protect my peace? Pay attention to any intuitive hits.
Question: Where in my thinking have I absorbed systems of oppression? See if you can notice internalized beliefs about success, worth, or identity that may be rooted in capitalist, colonial, or patriarchal conditioning, or in your family of origin or culture.
Disrupt: What truth do I need to embrace instead? This card will give you a nurturing and healing counterpoint to the internalized lie.
Mamma moon says: This is always an encouraging message.
