A few weeks ago, Allociné was invited to go to the set of “New Day”, the future soap opera of M6. Spoilers: We took full eyes and we can’t wait to see the episodes!
This is one of the TV fiction events this summer and we were on the set in preview: new day, the soap of M6, will be launched very soon! In filming since Monday, April 14, 2025 in Montpellier and its surroundings, fiction has undeniable assets to get out of the game in the face of formidable competitors as tomorrow belongs to us, such a great sun, more beautiful life, here it all starts and, soon, everything for light.
A great creative freedom
First of all, the creators of the new day Mohamed Benyekhle and Mari Mouazan both worked on ITC in the past. Considering having rather “restrained” on TF1 at that time, they are enthusiastic about the freedom that M6 leaves them, until talking about “carte blanche“For them and their thirty authors.
Thus, these enthusiasts of Soap Operas such as Dynasty, Melrose Place or even Ugly Betty intend to blow a breath of freshness on the soap operas thanks to a resolutely pop and daring writing, in the DNA of M6. In new day, the heroes are not smooth and have flaws. They make mistakes but know how to step back on themselves with irony, while remaining sympathetic and endearing.
Endearing and complex characters
The main heroine, Louise Bartoli, is embodied by Héléna Noguerra. The character resumed the management of the family luxury hotel after the disappearance at the sea of his father, injuring his brother and sister in the process of which Louise no longer speaks). Woman of grip, she nevertheless reveals her tender side with her fiancé, the beautiful Aurèle. But her daily life will be upset by the arrival of her niece Théa, whom she does not know, as well as by the return of faces of the past …
Around Héléna Noguerra, actors well known to the general public like Bruno Solo, Vincent Desagnat or Alexandre Varga (who plays the darling of Louise). But there are also faces appreciated by fans of French serials such as Laetitia Milot, Jean-Baptise Maunier or Aurélie Konaté. Finally, young players, often students in the region, have been recruited. Among them, Marion Aymé, alias Théa. Thanks to these choices, we then obtain an identified, reassuring and full of promise casting!
A daring project
On the set, Aude Thévenin, the producer of new day (who before that intervened on DNA), explains that 34 characters will be developed in the intrigue. All these beautiful people will run in three main places: in the studios of Vendargues (where USGS is put in box) for the interiors, at the Sublime Château du Domaine de Capion (used for the hotel) and a giant outdoor decor built by the series teams (the “back-lot”), reproducing to the perfection of the streets of Montpellier and a neighborhood life. We have also seen everything with our own eyes on the spot and it is as beautiful as it is impressive!
The arena of fiction is therefore not closed and several genres will rub shoulders on our screens in episodes that will last between 20 and 30 minutes. Thus, if the thriller will be clearly set back, the mystery, the thriller and, in equal play, the comedy will punctuate the narrative arches.
These future stories will tackle classical themes such as romance, secret or revenge, but will also develop social subjects such as harassment, homophobia, grossophobia, disability, etc. Hotel employees will be at the center of the action, like Downtown Abbey.
200 people have been working for weeks to materialize this ambitious project. Moreover, no question for M6 to make disappear new day of its program grid if the series is struggling to settle: time will be granted to it so that it finds its nucleus of faithful.
“It’s punk and chic to become a heroine of Soap!”
Let it be said also, this daily will be a modern SOAP, with heroines in the foreground. As we have already specified, Louise will be the leader. Between two scenes on the set, Héléna Noguerra told us that this data particularly prompted her to accept to participate in this great adventure that begins:
“”I read the script and found it interesting. Louise Bartoli is a woman not quite like me. She is not a funny, she is a lady! It’s a boss … it was a challenge for me (…) I also thought that I might be repropriate for this type of project anymore. “
“Then, everything was aligned. I wanted to see what it was this life as a heroine of Soap. Sometimes, when you turn, I imagine being a heroine of Almodóvar films who plays a heroine of Soap (laughs) (…) I find it punk and chic to become a heroine of Soap!“”
The date of the launch of new day on M6 should soon be announced by the channel. In the meantime, we are already ready for check-in at Domaine Bartoli!
