Vijayawada: A jovial exchange took place during the oath-taking ceremony of the new chief minister for Delhi in the national capital on Thursday – between PM Modi and AP’s deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
The light-hearted banter elicited smiles and laughter among the leaders present.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the PM alongside senior BJP leaders and leaders from the NDA coalition. Notable attendees included AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu, deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Maharashtra’s deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
After the event, Pawan Kalyan briefed the media about his interaction with the PM. He mentioned, “Whenever I meet the Prime Minister, he cracks a joke. Today he commented on my attire, asking if I was leaving everything behind to go to the Himalayas,” PK said.
He assured the PM that he had no such intention and still had a lot of work to do.
To a question about his absence at recent NDA meetings, Pawan Kalyan said, “We are moving forward in a coordinated manner. I could not attend some meetings in AP due to back pain. The pain is still severe. The environment and forest departments are my favourites and managing these takes a lot of time.”
Pawan said the BJP win in Delhi polls was a historic achievement after 27 years. He conveyed his best wishes to Prime Minister Modi and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.
