Angel Reese’s frustration boiled over as Unrivaled coach’s move

Angel Reese was visibly frustrated in the Rose BC vs Vinyl BC game. There were just over two minutes left in the third, Angel Reese was whistled for a shooting foul against Dearica Hamby in the paint. At first glance, it seemed like she made contact with Hamby’s forearm, but a closer look at the replay revealed she had pulled her hand back just in time. It would be her fourth foul of the game, putting her in serious foul trouble. However, Reese immediately turned to Henry, strongly urging her to challenge the ruling.
She boldly pleaded her case as the decision meant a lot to her and the team. Henry, after a brief hesitation, obliged and challenged the call. The review overturned the decision, allowing Reese to stay in the game. Reese didn’t let emotions get the best of her and got back to her game to deliver a dominant performance to secure Rose BC’s third straight win in the league.
Reese finished the night with a stellar stat line of 16 points, 15 rebounds, and one steal. In the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, she disrupted Rhyne Howard’s drive to the basket, poking the ball loose. The steal set up an easy transition layup for Brittney Sykes, sealing the game for Rose BC. Later, Reese ran alongside Sykes, shouting encouragement as her team was inches away from victory.
Speaking about Reese’s performance and competitive spirit, Henry had nothing but praise for her star forward.
“It’s been such a pleasure to coach her. She comes in with the same mindset, the same mentality every day,” Henry said. “You know what you’re gonna get from her. You’re gonna get a competitor, you’re gonna get somebody that’s fun, that’s gonna lighten the group up through competing. That’s a lot of the way that she brings a certain level of … lighthearted youthfulness is through competing and talking trash,” he continued.
Henry added, “She’s been playing really well for us. Like tonight, she’s literally at 16 and 15. So we can’t ask for her to do anything more. Not only is she doing that in the game, but she also shows up and she gets extra work in. So honestly, it’s been a pleasure to coach a player like her.”
