The rescue teams have recovered the mortal remains of a worker from the debris in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel in Domalapenta in Telangana on Tuesday.
The body of the deceased worker was shifted to Government Hospital in Nagarkurnool by the police, according to officials. The victim is yet to be identified officially. With this, the death toll in the tunnel collapse reached two and the efforts are on to locate the remaining six workers who are still trapped under the debris.
A part of the roof of the tunnel that was under construction collapsed on February 22 when 50 workers were inside. While 42 were rushed to safety, eight workers were trapped inside and so far two were found dead.
The whereabouts of six workers is still unknown and nearly 300 members of rescue teams, including those from NDRF and SDRF have been working round the clock for the last one month in the rescue operations.
