50-year-old woman marries grandson, plans to poison husband and children

In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh, a 50-year-old woman, Indrawati, ran away with her 30-year-old grandson, Azad, and got married to him at a temple. Indrawati, who has four children (two sons and two daughters), left her whole family behind to marry her grandson.

The two went to Govind Sahib Temple, exchanged vows, applied vermilion, took seven rounds around the sacred fire, and got married before disappearing from the village.

Indrawati and Azad lived in the same neighbourhood in Ambedkarnagar. Despite being grandmother and grandson by relation, they had been secretly involved in a romantic relationship for some time. No one suspected anything unusual because they were family.

Four days before they ran away, Indrawati’s husband, Chandrashekhar, became suspicious after seeing them talking secretly. When he found out about their affair, he strongly opposed it and tried to convince them to part ways. However, Indrawati and Azad refused to listen and went ahead with their plan to elope and marry.

Chandrashekhar, heartbroken by the betrayal, tried to seek help from the police, but they refused to file a complaint, stating that both Indrawati and Azad were adults and free to choose their partners. In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Indrawati had even planned to poison her husband and children to remove them from her life.

Chandrashekhar, who had been frequently away at work, learned that his second wife, Indrawati, and Azad’s relationship had grown during his absences. Devastated by the deception, he has now decided to perform the Hindu ritual of “terahvi” (a ceremony conducted on the 13th day after someone’s death) as a symbolic act to declare Indrawati “dead” to him.
