‘Cauvery on Wheels’ to prioritise those who have applied for connection in 110 villages

Cauvery on Wheels, an initiative where Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) will supply Cauvery water in tankers for those who book online, will prioritise not only 110 villages yet to be fully served by Cauvery water, but also those who have applied for Cauvery V Stage connection, BWSSB chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar said.

“Those who have applied for the connection, those who have paid and distribution network work is under way to provide them connections will be given priority to provide water under the scheme,” he said, adding that the initiative will be soon flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

Mr. Manohar said amid reports of water tankers already hiking prices in some areas, there were also reports of lack of demand in many other areas. “We have opened ‘Cauvery on Wheels’ platform for private tanker owners to register themselves. They can rent their tankers to us to provide water to those in need. The programme will work on the model of vehicle aggregators. Tanker owners who want to register can do so on the BWSSB website,” Mr. Manohar said.
