An awareness rally was organised in Ongole on Friday to mark World Malaria Day. Malaria control was everyone’s responsibility, said A. Thameem Ansaria, Prakasam District Collector, after flagging off the rally at the Collectorate.
The participants of the rally took a pledge to control malaria in the district. The rally ended at the Nellore Bus Stand.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that Malaria Prevention Day is celebrated every year on April 25. This year, the theme was ‘Prevention of malaria is everyone’s responsibility’.
“Malaria can be controlled through early diagnosis and timely treatment,” she said, adding that all PHCs in the district had facilities for malaria diagnosis and treatment.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Venkateswara Rao, District Malaria Officer Dr. Madhusudhan Rao, ASHA workers, students and others participated in the rally.
